Cricket to offer pre-paid iPhone plan on June 22

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Corporate News, Handhelds,
Ever since AT&T killed its prepaid plans for the iPhone, we've been waiting for another US carrier to step up, and now Cricket is ready to bring the prepaid love back to Apple's smartphone. Beginning on June 22nd, Cricket will sell the iPhone alongside a $55 month-to-month plan that brings unlimited voice, text, and data with it. No need for a contract. You can choose from a 16 GB iPhone 4S for $500 or an 8 GB iPhone 4 for $400, and that unlimited data actually tops out at 2.3 GB (which is actually a limit.) Still, this frees you from having to be stuck in a two-year contract.

The previously hard-to-find household gadget regulates the temperature of your home and sets up a pattern based on your usage, and even allows you to monitor and change the temperature of your home on the fly from anywhere by using your smartphone, tablet, or even a web browser. After being in short supply at launch, the Nest is now available at the Apple Store, which provides yet another avenue to get your hands on one. Lowe's also carries the Nest, if that's more convenient for you.

As previously reported, Apple is set to replace Google Maps in iOS 6 with an in-house solution that's the result of the company acquiring mapping companies like C3 Technologies, Poly9, and Placebase. Today, we see leaked screenshots from a BGR "trusted source" that shows off a bit more of what we can expect.
The screenshots show that the new 3D mode is certainly in the works in build 10A314 of iOS 6. Again, this is a total replacement for Google Maps, allowing Apple to provide the exact Maps experience that it want to provide on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. We expect to get a full preview of iOS 6 at WWDC next month.
