Homer Simpson Talking Cuckoo Clock

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Home Entertainment, Misc. Tech,
Another Simpsons gadget has hit the market. The Homer Talking Cuckoo Clock is about 21.5 x 23cm and runs on 4 AA batteries (not included.) When the hour strikes, Homey leaves Moe’s Tavern just long enough to shout “Woo Hoo” however many hours it is. Fortunately, the timepiece is light sensitive so you don’t have to listen to him at night. This gives him enough time for a couple more Duffs before the next morning. The clock is available for $49.31.

Amazon aims to eliminate hard-to-open packaging

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Corporate News, Internet, Misc. Tech, Toys,

After years upon years of frustrated purchasers cutting themselves on clamshell plastic cases, a company has stood up and proclaimed “No more!”. This morning, a letter from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos appeared on the main page of the site, informing visitors that the company will now be working with leading manufacturers to deliver products “inside smaller, easy-to-open, recyclable cardboard boxes with less packaging material (and no frustrating plastic clamshells or wire ties).” They are calling it “Frustration-free Packaging.” Really? Could a world really exist where you can simply buy a product, open a box, and easily remove said product from said box—without having to scour the immediate vicinity for a box cutter? We know, it sounds too good to be true. We applaud Amazon for standing up for both the environment, and our cut up fingers.

Pleo Celebrates Halloween

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Hot Deals, Misc. Tech, Software, Toys,
Ugobe is celebrating Pleo’s first Halloween with some new downloadable software. He will not only issue his usual noises, he can also sound like a screeching cat, a spooky ghost, a dragon and a Pleosaurus Rex. The “audio costumes” are free and you will only need a blank SD Card with a minimum of 32MB storage. At a total size of 2.7MB, Ugobe says it will take longer than most downloads, but then maybe Pleo doesn’t like holidays.

If you believe in the plant that has its own blog, then you might also like to know that you can get your plant to Twitter. A CERN scientist supposedly created this Plant Twitter Kit. Assemble it (some soldering required,) then connect it to your leafy friend and subscribe to its feed, and it will tell you when it needs water or complain if you give too much. We’re still not sure that the gadget will work, and it seems an overpriced $99.99, but hey, if it works on your philodendron, it may work on your puppy.

If you already own a T-Equalizer shirt, then you will be pleased to know that it is now available in a baseball cap. Powered by two included 2 CR2032 batteries, they are hidden away in the lining of the back of the head wear. In a one size fits all, a sensor allows adjustment for loud and soft environments. While we expect that the hat will be more popular with those who can actually see it, take comfort in the fact that for £12.95 (~$21.00) you were the one who was smart enough to purchase it first.
