Although biometric access controls such as retina and fingerprint recognition are nothing new, in the search for ultimate security, the Biovein security control system from French innovator Easydentic Group, verifies your identity through vascular recognition. A while back we found a shower head that measures temperature and changes colors, but for bath fanatics, there is an LED Bath Light that does so much more. We haven’t really checked out any high tech refrigerators of late, but Samsung’s RFG299 French Door Refrigerator caught our attention. It has 14% more storage space than others of it size because of its unique insulation to give it 28.5 cu. ft. It also has internal LED lighting, a Twin Cooling Plus System, a door alarm, and a specific storage area for pizza! The best part is its 7-inch LCD touchscreen that controls temperature, monitors its water filter, and has access to calendars, unit conversion, and nutrition information, so you will think twice before eating that double pepperoni. The fridge is available for $3099.00 with a stainless steel finish, and also comes in platinum, black and white.

Toshiba TLP-X2000U Projector Speaks

Toshiba has released their TLP-X2000U Projector, supposedly the first one with voice guidance. The wireless 3LCD device audibly assists you with set up and will let you know about system problems such as lamp life, on/off status and cooling fan status. At a weight of only 4.4 lbs., it has close captioning, a multi-screen function, and is Windows Vista compatible. With 3,000 ANSI lumens, XGA (1024x768) resolution, and a 600:1 contrast ratio, talk ain’t cheap. Think $1,739.00 from Toshiba’s online store.

CoffeeCompany Curbs WiFi Freeloaders

We suspect there are a lot of people who hit up their local Starbucks to take advantage of the free WiFi and sip the same cup for hours. The Holland based CoffeeCompany has come up with an idea to curb the practice. They change the name of their network with such passwords as “HaveYouTriedCoffeeCake?,” “BuyAnotherCupYouCheapskate” and “BuyaLargeLatteGetBrownieForFree.” While the message is comical and subliminal, the guilt factor must be worth the effort.

We admit it. With the holidays coming on, we almost welcome the fact that things are not great with the economy. It sort of evens out the playing field for those of us that struggle to pay our rent. MRM Teams With Panasonic to Recycle

MRM (Manufacturers Recycling Management) is trying to get us all to recycle our old electronics, taking away the need for disposing of your dead ones in the nearest dumpster when no one is looking. Joining Sharp Electronics Corporation and Toshiba America Consumer Products, Panasonic has now stepped up to create a nationwide program to recycle their goods. You simply drop off your unused products. It is available in ten states so far and they hope to expand to all 50 of them in the next 3 years. Look for further announcements in January.
