The NFL decided to broadcast the first live 3D football game. It was shown in theaters in LA, Boston and New York last night. Team owners, journalists and producers were invited to see the technology developed by 3ality Digital. They planted three 3D crews, with their own commentary, next to 2D counterparts for the game between the Oakland Raiders and S.D. Chargers. They call it an “up close, personal, visceral experience.” We call it a little too close to the action and were glad to hear that it is not going to happen on a large scale any time soon.

Silicon Touch iPhone Case For The Visually Impaired

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smartphones, Design, Misc. Tech,

The Silicon Touch iPhone case was designed by Bruno Fosi for the visually impaired. The cover has modified bas-relief buttons that goes in tandem with a home screen without hampering the touch and scrolling functions. He also incorporated accessibility functions like moon type tactile feedback and text to speech. With a little practice, the prototype might even be a viable cover for those who like to use their iPhones under the covers when their partner thinks they are snoozing.

LaCie has come up with a new line of cables that they refer to as “practical and fun.” We like to call them cords for the “cable challenged.” The Flat Cables are available in three types of USB interfaces in blue, in addition to the orange FireWire 400 and 800, and green eSATA connectors. Each one has its own labels for more customization. The LaCie cable starts at a price of £9.00 (~$13.00.)

Moritz Waldemeyer decided to take up the challenge of redesigning the game “Operation.” He came up with a 3D version called Keyhole Surgery in which you have to place the key in a maze without touching the sides. He included a file so that you can study it before you give it a go. The person with the least amount of touches wins. We dig the idea of the prototype game, but this is definitely not one to play at a kegger.
