SplashPadMany companies have been developing cell phones that use will utilize wireless charging. Apple has applied for a patent of their own, but it is SplashPower that caught our attention for its recharging simplicity. Their new SplashPad runs by electromagnetic induction and if you own a high end electric toothbrush it is already equipped with the technology. It eliminates the need for more than one charger per unit and you can charge several devices simultaneously. You will need a SplashPower Module in most cases for each gadget. Account Manager Stuart Reed told Gear Live that it has joined with brand name partners and the first products will become available early next year.

Hanool Robotics’ latest venture is its Hanuri-RT Rescue Robot, designed to assist in nabbing injured people or explosive devices from the clutches of our enemies or battlefields. Similar to ASI’s Chaos, the robot is remote controlled and can go up and down inclines such as hills or stairs to do its dirty work. Contact Hanool for the robot’s price and future availability. We were just wondering what the reception would be if the bot was caught in the act of playing superhero.

Referred to as the “n” series (802.11n), it is supposedly five times faster than the present “g” version at twice the range. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the latest technology, you can already purchase some routers, networking cards, and other “Draft N” products which will work with the older technology until the new certification is sprung upon us this June.

Foleo

Palm has released the Foleo, a companion keyboard and 10-inch display to go with Treo and other smartphones. Unfold it, push a button, and you receive instant wireless gratification. Uses include longer e-mail capability, larger images, and a speed courtesy of Linux with a dedicated key. The gadget can go for up to 5 hours before needing a recharge.
You can witness the Foleo for yourself with a rather lengthy Palm webcast which was released yesterday. Count on a $499.99 price tag after a $100.00 rebate sometime this summer. Excuse our asking, but isn’t the whole idea to get something smaller to cart around rather than making it larger?

GlonassNew navigational devices from Russia are in the works to be released to retail stores later this year. Their Glonass SRNS (Satellite Radio Navigation System) is used by the military as well as individuals and was set up to compete with the U.S.’s network as well as Europe’s planned Galileo. First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov says that their gadgets will work with Glonass as well as our current GPS network. Wireless Poker GameFans of Texas Hold ‘Em will love this new Wireless Poker Game. Connect the main unit to your TV for an overhead view of the table with icons representing you and five other high rollers. You can also see hole cards, community cards, the current pot and everyone’s winnings. The six controllers have LCD screens with sliding screen covers in case the dude next to you is inclined to cheat

peek. It also features pot limits and you can create your own tournaments. Think rechargeable for this one as the controllers require 3 AA batteries each and the main unit needs four. The game is available at Hammacher Schlemmer for $59.95, but we think we will wait for the solar-powered version.

London bus stops now sport interactive touchscreen ads designed to promote their Nokia N95 cell phone. You tap a jean pocket and when it is uncovered, try to find its match. With a 5 megapixel display, the N95 has advanced browsing, e-mail, GPS, DVD quality graphics, Carl Zeiss optics, and music download capabilities. It comes with a $749.00 price tag, making it understandable why they are doing some heavy promotional tricks. Let’s just hope that playing around with the display will not get so addicting as to make the Londoners miss their buses.
