The fine folks over at Computer Choppers have decided it best to take an average, everyday and deck it out in 24 karat gold. As if that wasn’t enough, they also covered the logo in multi-colored sapphires, which we actually think looks kind of mint. To complete the whole package, they’ve even gone ahead and gold-plated the MacBook Air SuperDrive as well. After all, you don’t wanna be rocking the iced out computer, only to have to break out the old and busted optical drive, do you? Didn’t think so.

Check out the 24k MacBook Air gallery for more images.

iPhone 2.0 jailbroken

In an absurd turn of events, the iPhone Dev Team has announced that they’ve completely unlocked the upcoming software that we are all waiting to get access to come this June. Even better, it is a full unlock as opposed to a simple jailbreak. Custom hacked firmware, ready to run and install any application, whether is is unsigned or “Apple Approved.” Better still, the Dev Team believes that this is a hole that is going to have a very difficult time closing. I guess I should have known when my pal Nate True informed me a while back that, until Apple releases new iPhone hardware, the method used for breaking in will continue to work, regardless of any changes made to the software. This is all part of the Pwnage Project.

We love it.

Morph

Nokia’s researchers and the University of Cambridge have come up with the “Morph.” On display at MoMA this month through mid-May, the concept is meant to display the flexibility of future mobile devices. Morph’s technology is pliable, self-cleaning, and transparent, and can be ergonomically rearranged. For example, a folded design would fit in a pocket or on a wrist, while an unfolded one could become a handset. In addition, Morphing will less expensive, take up less space on the planet, and be eco-friendly. We are all for any idea that we can wear instead of forget when we are in a rush.

Latest Gear Live Videos

We thought that the new Elmo Live was a bit eerie, but it turns out that an “Elmo Knows Your Name” really did get spooky after 2 year-old James’ mom changed the batteries. Although the toy is programmed to say over 100 phrases, we don’t believe that “Kill James” is one of them. Fisher Price has offered to replace the child’s companion, but we are thinking if mom is smart, she should hang on to it and pass it on to someone who could figure out why Elmo has such rage. Then again, she could probably make a killing on eBay.

iPhone Tabulate

News in brief: Inventivelabs has released a JavaScript based hack for the and , which gives users far more control of their tabbed browsing experience. By simply adding their JavaScript bookmarklet to your computer and syncing it over to the iPhone you can quickly and easily open links in a page in a new tab, save links for later reviews, and manage tabs all in a surprisingly slick manner. It’s not a perfect solution being based in a bookmarklet, but adding this critical piece of functionality makes mobile Safari a far nicer experience.
