TomTom has kindly created a Route Planner for those who don’t have GPS and find that Google mapping is sometimes a long means to an end. It features live traffic information so you know the best time to leave and calculates routes on real average road speeds. Their Map Share technology is renewed every day by members of the TomTom community. Test the beta site for free before you head out on your next vacation or road trip.

The organization found lead in some that came from China as well as several manufactured in the U.S. This is the second year that the organization has created its consumer guide. We had to share this collection of images that show you what we have long suspected, that after we go out for the evening or to bed, our toys really do come out and play. The images include Lego figures, evil Muppets, Happy Tree Friends, Star Wars action figures, Wall-E, and Mario and his buddies. We wonder if the collection’s creators were into “Robot Chicken” or simply caught them in the act.

McAfee has announced that a Koobface variant virus is hanging out on Facebook. The subject line message states, “You look just awesome in this new movie.” Open it and it tells you that your flash player is out of date and gives you a download site to update your player. Apparently the worm has been around since August but the variant is new. Next time you are hanging out on Facebook, remember your flash player is just fine.

Sanyo has taken their basic clock radio design and created something that does much more. The R227 can also play Internet radio stations and podcasts with no subscription fee involved. The device connects via WiFi or ethernet and the company says it has enhanced sound quality. It also features a lighted LED, snooze and sleep to radio functions and access to shared music files on the same network. It can search by country or genre and users can add new stations. With 8 presets and a black lacquer-finished cabinet, the Internet Radio carries a MSRP of $169.99.

Papa John Makes a Million With Mobile Orders

While you can order a meal from Pizza Hut on Facebook, Papa John also seems to have the right idea. The chain announced that it has received more than a million dollars in mobile Web sales in the last six months. This equals out to over $1 billion in overall online sales. The site features their menu, special offers, locator and account registration. They also have an iPhone friendly menu. We can’t wait until the trend catches on and we can order our Moo Goo Gai Pan while on the way home.

Sling.com Becomes Official

Sling.com has officially gone from beta to open to the public, (although they haven’t yet removed the logo.) There is access to hand picked TV, movies and web video. Over 650 shows on 110 channels are available in the genres of sci-fi, classic, reality, politics and lots more. And if you have a Slingbox you can connect it to your TV. Sling is free, but if you register you can subscribe to your fave shows and communicate with family and friends on the site.
