If you have someone in your life who is destroying your home due to being essentially stuck in front of the television, the Couch Potato Tormentor has arrived. Simply put, it is a device that interferes with the component of your choice by performing random actions on the said component. For example, it can simply turn off, mute, or change the channel on the television every so often. Or you can set it to change the audio setting on the receiver every then and again. This is all in the spirit of annoying the person who is trying to enjoy their favorite evening sitcom. Of course it’s just a gag, but I would love to set it up someone discrete and just watch the reaction it gets. However, I know when my components act up, it is no laughing matter. Full release after the jump.

One thing many people neglect to take care of is their ears. I have seen so many people on the subway who listen to portable audio devices, and although I am a legitimate five or six feet away from them, I can hear everything that is coming out of their headphones. In the interest of creating something that would be both comfortable, and ultra-functional, the EarLove earplug is designed for those nights when you know you are going to be in a loud music environment. Whether that means a night out at the club where you might end up dancing near a speaker, or an outing to a rock concert, these earplugs are designed to both protect your ears and allow you to hear the music perfectly. They are available in a few colors, and are said to work better than old-school foam earplugs.
(Thanks Franz!)

The UK’s gadget shop Boystuff has announced a line of geek friendly binary watch faces, so only the geeks among us will know what time it is. Unfortunately, this look has been done long ago, one only needs to visit Tokyoflash.com to see not only binary watches, but all sorts of unusual LED faces and graph faces. It’s hard to choose just one. I personally favor the Barcode SS but then again, I’m more old school. Perhaps you want a newer more pimp flashed LED movement watch that has running light shows. Just take a look through their selection and choose the watch that meets your idea of time.

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you – that is an iPod upside down on a tripod which consistst of speakers. We can’t imagine how much would sound on this device, which is powered by a single AAA battery, but it certainly can’t be good for the neck having to turn your head virtually upside down to read the ID3 tags. This speaker system may not be very practical, but it will be a good conversation starter when set up on an office desk or coffee shop table.

MobilePC Presents The Greatest Gadgets of All Time
Posted by Hector Martinez Categories: Accessories, Cameras, Smartphones, Handhelds, Misc. Tech, PC / Laptop, Portable Audio / Video,
When I first read MobilePC’s “Greatest Gadgets” article in the magazine’s print edition, I remember thinking to myself: “This is one of the best gear articles I have ever read. Thank God I didn’t cancel my subscription.” Two days later, I find out that anyone can find the same article for free at the magazine’s website. Highly informative, entertaining, and a must-read for anyone with even a remote interest in consumer technology. I still won’t cancel my subscription…just in case something else comes up.

I remember as a kid when the first under the cabinet clock radio was released and we got one for our kitchen. Years later they made an under the cabinet TV. We never got one because my mother hated television. Now I find myself explaining to my wife why I need an iCEBOX. No - this isn’t a new refrigerator - it’s a small LCD screen which is capable of being used as a TV, DVD player, CD player, radio, and touch screen computer. It has a wireless mouse and keyboard, and can also pick up wireless cameras so it makes an excellent way to watch the baby while cooking dinner. To top all that off, if has built in wireless internet as well as an ethernet port. I’m sure my wife will understand soon enough.

Gear Live Giveaway: Logitech Harmony 676
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Announcements,
Each week, Gear Live gives away awesome tech prizes courtesy of PrizeCube. The winner of the last contest was Ben Vante, who walked away with a brand new Nintendo DS.
A couple of weeks ago, we told you about how Logitech was giving away 100 Harmony 676 remotes per day for a week. If you weren’t lucky enough to cop one, we have your hookup. While we aren’t going to give away anywhere near 100 of these, we are going to give one away to a lucky reader. All you have to do is let us know what you would use this item for in the comments area. What kind of setup do you have in your living room? And hey, it’s a random drawing, so you can still win even if you have a poor man’s system. Don’t thank me, thank PrizeCube. As always, this is open to US residents only. You have a week.
World’s First Bluetooth Sunglasses: Oakley RAZRWire
Posted by Hector Martinez Categories: Accessories, Smartphones, Wireless / WiFi,
Wires on our devices are still a pain. Just last week, someone accidentally snatched my headphones right out my ear when they walked too close to me. If that wasn’t enough, people who wear sunglasses are even more limited, because generally only one device can loop around your ear at any one time. Today at 3GSM Motorola and Oakley announced their new line of premium Bluetooth wireless technology, sure to keep you connected and cool at the same time. The Oakley RAZRWire is simply a pair of Oakley’s that have an earpiece attached to the frame, allowing you to talk on your cell phone wirelessly. The device is expected in the second half of 2005, and will be available in three different frame colors. No word on the pricing, but the word “premium” should hint to that.
