John LyndonJohn Lydon - also known as the Sex Pistols’ Johnny Rotten - has accused two hugely successful bands of lacking “heart and soul.”

and Radiohead bug the hell out of me because it’s so soulless. It just seems pointless. It’s nice but it’s tosh. They don’t care about you. They care about lining their coffers,” he fumed to BBC radio station 6 Music. “There’s nothing about heart and soul, they don’t know about heart and soul, they don’t know about people dying, living and aspiring.”

The punk singer’s offhand opinion may not be entirely founded, as famously released their last album, In Rainbows, to fans on a pay-what-you-like basis - with many choosing to pay nothing.

Kelly Clarkson says she has started work on a new LP and is promising a dramatically different direction to her previous efforts.

“We’re already working on it but it’s probably not going to hit until, like, the fourth quarter of next year - around Christmas next year,” she said. “There’s still some like singer/songwriter stuff on the album, but there’s… I don’t know. It’s almost like Garbage-meets-pop-meets-. It’s a little different.”

However, Kelly also said that she is still in the early stages of the recording process. “I don’t know how it’s going to end up. Who knows?” she said. “It always ends up being something completely different,” the singer added to Q100 radio.

In between working on her own album, Kelly is also attempting to pen tracks for other musicians. “So we’ve been writing for other artists but then I end up liking it so much that I can’t give them away,” Clarkson admitted.

“If I’m good, I’ll get my gift. I wanna take a ride with old St. Nick…”

If she’s willing to write songs for Michael Bolton, is a holiday CD really such a ridiculous thought?

In this commercial for her Ra-Ga-Ga Christmas album, you can hear “Lady Gaga” perform several new tracks including “Bad Snowmans,” “Love Sleigh” and “Ho Ho Ho-ker Face.”

Those who pre-order will also get a special Hanukkah offering from “Taylor Swift.”

ABBA

Benny Andersson never expected to make it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Swedish foursome will join the prestigious roll of honor much to the surprise of the “Waterloo” hitmakers. The musical group join The Hollies, The Stooges, Genesis and Jimmy Cliff in the upcoming induction.

“I didn’t think this would happen, because we were a pop band, not a rock band. Being a foreigner from the North Pole, this feels really good,” Andersson said.

The Strokes

Julian Casablancas has hinted won’t work together again.

The singer - who recently released critically-acclaimed solo album Phrazes for the Yong during the band’s hiatus - is delighted that his group’s debut LP Is This It? has been featured heavily in album of the decade polls. Unfortunately, he doesn’t believe it will be enough to get the “Last Nite” hitmakers to make another record.

“I really dig people are remembering our first album and it’s figuring in these best-of-decade polls, but sadly that’s not going to get us back into the studio,” Casablancas said.

Miley Cyrus might not be familiar with Jay-Z tracks, but she definitely knows her Poison. According to the pop singer’s mother (yes, Miley - I called you a pop star), the 17-year-old is in the process of recording a Bret Michaels-penned classic: “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.”

Although Cyrus wasn’t even born during the band’s heydey, she says her first non-Billy Ray concert was a Poison performance in Nashville.

If the rumors are true, Michaels will even assist Miley on the song with his own guitar playing.
