Unless you were saved by the Tivo gods, you probably got stuck watching ’s utterly horrendous SNL performance this past Saturday night. Her off-key warbling went on for an interminable four minutes, and the song itself is pretty horrible on its own merit (tell me, what does it mean, exactly, to “wake up feelin’ like P. Diddy,” and how do you know?).

Nonsensical lyrics, absolutely confusing costuming and out-of-sync choreography would have easily sunk Ke$ha’s ship even if she hadn’t opened her mouth to sing…which, unfortunately, she did. To her credit, I’m pretty sure she didn’t lip-sync the performance (something a few notable musical guests have been ripped apart for doing), but in Ke$ha’s case that might have been the better route to take.

Lady Gaga on American Idol

Lady Gaga might not be appearing on the Today show until July 9, but you’ll be able to catch her on network TV long before then.

The singer recently announced via Twitter that she’ll be hitting up FOX next month. “See you on American Idol. MAY 5th, Little Monsters.”

It’s not clear at this time which track she might performing that night. It’s also not known whether singing is the only thing she’ll be doing for the program.

This will, of course, not be Gaga’s first visit to the Idol stage. She also performed “Poker Face” in April 2009.

(FYI - You can also follow Albumista on Twitter.)

You can call ‘s recent performance of “Your Love is My Drug” trippy, creative, colorful or strange—but whatever you do, don’t call it original.

After watching the singer’s appearance from last weekend’s , make sure you check out the two clips after the jump.

Akon and Christina Aguilera

“Aw man, that’s not even any competition. You are actually giving Christina too much credit. She always had her cool little look and way about how she went about things. But soon as Gaga came out everything switched up. Christina stepped out of her own shell to become something different. And the crazy thing is Christina is really talented. She has unlimited range when it comes to singing. Her voice is out of here. I just think she just needs to believe in herself more. I think sometimes she gets insecure because of all of the success Gaga has had not realizing that she was already successful before Gaga came out… Christina shouldn’t have anything to prove or anyone to compete with. I miss the old . I like the old one better than the new one. Honestly, Gaga and Christina could probably get together and do something that’s amazing. But that’s impossible if they are both trying to do the same exact thing musically.”

- telling Vibe that the “Not Myself Tonight” singer was better off when she wasn’t trying to compete with Lady Gaga.
