Pharell WilliamsPharrell Williams has produced a track for Jay-Z which is like a "Stanley Kubrick movie."

The rapper and producer has joined forces with the hip-hop star to record for the follow up to his The Blueprint 3 album, and compares their work to the notorious filmmaker, famed for his attention to detail, perfectionism and tackling of grand concepts. Referring to the director - whose projects include A Clockwork Orange and The Shining - Pharrell told radio station Hot 97, "Rain Man is back, Rain Man is back. I gave him a straight up Stanley Kubrick movie."

Jay-Z refers to himself as the Rain Man because of his ability to come up with rhyming lyrics effortlessly. The reference is a tongue-in-cheek comparison to the gifted autistic character Raymond Babbitt who has incredible memory recall, as portrayed by Dustin Hoffman in the 1988 film Rain Man.

Pharrell also listed other big names he is collaborating with, including Jay-Z's wife Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Busta Rhymes, Kendrick Lamar and No Doubt.

RihannaRihanna has set a new chart record in the US. The singer's latest single "Stay" - featuring Mikky Ekko - has become her tenth number one on Billboard Mainstream Top 40 Radio Airplay Chart.

By having ten number one's Rihanna topples Katy Perry's record run of nine number one tracks on the same chart. The "Umbrella" singer also holds further records in the same chart, including most entries on the chart for an artist, with 35 songs.

While Rihanna's chart performances are holding up, she is having a hard time of her current Diamonds World Tour, and has had to cancel four shows in the US leg due to a recurring bout of laryngitis. After cancelling two shows in Texas earlier this month, she apologized to fans, writing on Instagram, "I kept working because I thought two days off after the Vegas show would be enough time to recover and I f****ed up, those were two days off from hell and today is not different! I'm sad and disappointed about it!"

Tonight Rihanna will perform in Baltimore, Maryland, the first of the previously cancelled shows she has rescheduled.

Addressing a crowd of fans, Kevin Richardson, 40, said, "What an honor it is. What a beautiful day. What another beautiful way to celebrate 20 years together."

Nick, 33, added, "Backstreet is Back ... and we aren't going anywhere."

Elton John with Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump

Elton John advised Fall Out Boy to "p**s people off" on Save Rock And Roll. The legendary singer appears on the "Dance, Dance" band's new album, and they knew they were doing the right thing with their songs when he said they would cause upset.

"Elton John sings on the song 'Save Rock and Roll' and going in there with him [to record] I was a little bit concerned what he was going to say about it. But he loved every part of it and that was reassuring like, 'Okay we're doing the right thing.' He was like, 'You're going to p**s off a lot of people and you should totally p**s those people off,'" singer Patrick Stump explained.

Beyonce- Although online music service Spotify won't divulge approximate numbers, the company claims that Daft Punk has set the new record with their song "Get Lucky" for the biggest streaming day for a single track - a title previously held by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop."

- Perhaps weirdly influenced by her new role as a mother, Beyonce shocked Serbian concert-goers by somewhat-flashing them with a glittery leotard complete with bare faux-boobs.

- Those attending the Americanarama Festival of Music ought to be extra-ecstatic for the concert this summer, as Bob Dylan just signed on to perform on the tour alongside My Morning Jacket and Wilco.

- Amy Winehouse's father Mitch has spoken out about Beyonce's initially unauthorized cover of "Back to Black," which is featured in the upcoming film The Great Gatsby.

UsherUsher always knew he could be as big as Bobby Brown or Michael Jackson. The "Yeah" singer - who has sold over 65 million records during his career - was convinced of his talents from an early age, and even though people didn't believe him, he knew he was going to be a star.

Speaking to Pharrell Williams for his Artist TLK show, he said, "Bobby Brown and Michael Jackson that's what I'm gonna do. People are like 'Sure kid, whatever.' And I'm like, 'No, no, no. That's what I'm gonna do.' If I had come out as a kid artist then I kinda woulda got lost in the kid thing, but you put me with Puff [Daddy, now P. Diddy, an early mentor], at the time when Puff was hot, [I] blew 'em away."

In the same interview Usher also talks about teen sensation Justin Bieber, who he signed to The Raymond Braun Media Group, which he founded with the star's manager, Scooter Braun. "Many people passed up on Justin. That was never my reaction," he added.

Fall Out BoyFall Out Boy say recording their album in secret gave them more freedom.

The "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" band went on hiatus between 2009 and last year, when they started to record their comeback, and singer Patrick Stump enjoyed the lack of pressure which came with working independently. "I think it was nice because we got to write in demo and even record without a bunch of people looking over our shoulders and kind of trying to get their hands in the mix so to speak. We just had to wait until we had the music for it. The thing for us is that we're really proud of and happy with what we had done in the last ten years or whatever. So if we didn't have songs that we were passionate about we weren't even going to bother, we weren't going to just to do it," he said, speaking to Absolute Radio's Pete Donaldson.

Twitter #music

The rumored Twitter Music service has become a reality, launching this morning. Twitter #music seems to be a natural step for the service, which sees hundreds of millions of users regularly discussing music on the service, as well as a bunch of  popular musicians as well. Twitter #music aims to help you find music you'll like, based on your Twitter activity. You can access #music through a web browser, and there's also a new dedicated #music iOS app that lets you easily view and listen to music that's popular and trending on Twitter, undiscovered artists, music that it knows you like, and a #NowPlaying area that shows what others are listening to.

One important note here is that Twitter #music isn't a streaming music service. Instead, it's a layer that allows you to access your Rdio, Spotify, and iTunes tracks, using Twitter #music as your navigation mechanism. You simply connect your accounts to #music, and you are all set. The iOS app is slick, and we hear the Android version will be on its way soon. You can download Twitter #music for iPhone now.
