Video: Gwyneth Paltrow Performs Coming Home at Oscars

Gwyneth Paltrow delivered a beautiful, heartfelt performance of “Coming Home” at this year's Oscars, the original song from her film Country Strong. The tune was one of the nominees in the Best Original Song category, and Paltrow’s beautiful performance made a strong case for why the ditty deserved to win the statue.

It didn’t, however. Randy Newman won his second Oscar at the 83rd Academy Awards for his original song “We Belong Together” from Toy Story 3, which he also performed live on the big stage.

The 83rd Academy Awards was peppered with montages, witty jokes from the evening's hosts and presenters and more than one great musical performance. As a tribute to the five orignal songs nominated for this year's awards, each one was performed live on the huge Oscar stage.

Tangled's “I See the Light” was beautifully crooned by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. Moore wore a dark blue, feathery ball gown for the number, and still managed to sound even more beautiful than she looked. Their sensational performance, viewable in the video above, was one of the Oscar highlights for the broadcast.

No Cher Number for James Franco at Oscars, Actor Upset

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Performances, Videos, Covers,

James Franco is upset “for me and Cher” following the decision to cut his version of the singer’s “You Haven’t See the Last of Me” from this year’s Oscars. He released a short clip of himself singing via Twitter, and in it he himself calls his singing “a little growly.” You can hear him in the video above.

But don’t let that fool you. His co-host Anne Hathaway says the Oscar nominee “has a lovely singing voice,” though she won’t say whether or not they’ll be singing together during the show.

The 83rd Academy Awards will air later this month on ABC -- and if there are any musical numbers, we’ll let you know about it! Follow Albumista on Twitter to get all the latest gossip, videos and rumors.

Lady Gaga: Number One Fan of Maria Lourdes Aragon

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Gossip, Performances, Videos, Pop,

Lady Gaga gave her Twitter followers a treat Thursday morning -- she shared the video that made her cry uncontrollably.

“This is why I make music,” Gaga said of the instant YouTube hit, which is raking in page hits. “She is the future.” The “she” Gaga refers to is Maria Lourdes Aragon, 10, whose performance of “Born This Way” is gaining national attention.

When interviewed by Access Hollywood, Lourdes said she feels “overwhelmed and excited” by all the attention. One of Maria’s older sisters, 22, has become her impromptu publicist in the wake of the media firestorm surrounding her little sister.

And while Lady Gaga herself hasn’t spoken to the young superstar-in-training, Aragon delivered a message to the songstress via the press: “She has good meaning to her songs and. . .I really do idolize her.” And it seems Aragon has a fan in the form of Lady Gaga as well. Watch the video above to see what all the fuss is about.

Even Esperanza Spalding was surprised when her name was called at the Grammys as the “Best New Artist” award winner.

Many fans believed the trophy would go to Justin Bieber, but some have become much more vicious in expressing their surprise than others.

Following Spalding’s Grammy upset, upset Justin Bieber followers directed their tweets at Esperanza.

“@ESPESPALDING @THEGRAMMYS Congrats u ppl! U just crushed a 16yr old boys dreams...hope ur proud of urselves! -_- #JustinDeservedIt”

“So, @EspeSpalding just won with less than 10,000 followers on twitter. LOL. Sorry, I must have accidently turned my t.v to Punk'd. #Grammys”

Other commenters got to the point much more quickly. One posts simply reads “@EspeSpalding hate u.”

VIDEO: Christina Aguilera’s Grammy Fall

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Performances, Videos, Pop,

We don’t know Christina Aguilera personally, but we still think it’s safe to say the year isn’t shaping up the way she intended.

Her personal life is a little messy, with the divorce and all, and now her public life is becoming a tragedy of errors. The songstress bravely performed at the Grammy awards, because the show must go on despite her well-watched Super Bowl flub . . . but now, Aguilera probably wishes she’d stayed home.

The performer managed to belt her way through “Ain’t No Way,” a tribute to Grammy winner Aretha Franklin, without a hitch -- but following the performance, there was trouble. After Christina Aguilera executed her song, she moved a little too aggressively downstage . . . and fell down. Watch the video above to see her sad-but-funny stage spill.
