Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Upcoming Releases, Hip-Hop & Rap,

The men of N.E.R.D. have entered a new dimension with help from a new female singer.
The hip-hop stars are thrilled with the way latest line-up addition Rhea has altered their music with her vocals and think it has taken their music to another level.
“Musically, we’re just somewhere else with her. The music is now very three-dimensional. It’s something you have to hear. But you’ll see. We’re definitely somewhere else. I want to leave that impact moment for when you purchase your download and you purchase your CD. The music is very three-dimensional. We’re just really excited. We feel like N.E.R.D. has always been the punks of hip-hop and the outcasts of alternative music — just a little different. But this time, we’re taking no prisoners,” band member Pharrell Williams said.

Adele Scared of Alienating Fans

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Awards, Gossip, Upcoming Releases, Pop,

Adele is worried her new album could be a failure. The “Hometown Glory” singer is working on her second LP, but is torn between her musical progression and pleasing her established fanbase.
“I’m a bit scared. Obviously there are new avenues that I want to go down with the sound and I don’t want to leave behind the fans who might not like the new sound I am going for, so I’m a bit wary of that,” she told BANG Showbiz at the BMI London Awards (Broadcast Music Incorporated). “I’m writing it slowly but surely. I have a producer but I don’t want anyone to know who it is until the record is done, in case it flops.”
Adele picked up a Pop Award for single “Chasing Pavements” at the ceremony - held at the Dorchester Hotel by the performing rights organization, which collects license fees for artists for use of their songs on TV radio and film. Pop Awards are given to tracks by European songwriters which have gained the most plays on US radio.

Although we’re still six weeks away from the debut of New Moon (I swear Summit Entertainment has been promoting that movie for a decade), we’re now less than two weeks from the soundtrack’s release.
The CD, which drops on October 20, is comprised of 15 songs from a variety of alternative artists including Muse, Sea Wolf and OK Go. Death Cab for Cutie‘s “Meet Me on the Equinox” (featured above) is the soundtrack’s first single.

Christina Aguilera’s Great Body of Work

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Upcoming Releases, Pop,
Christina Aguilera is working on her “best album yet.”
The “Candyman” singer has collaborated with M.I.A., Flo Rida, Le Tigre and Santigold on LP Light and Darkness, which is being produced by Tricky Stewart, the mastermind behind Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Beyonce Knowles’ “Single Ladies.”
“It’s just great. I wouldn’t say that it’s alternative, I wouldn’t say that it’s different. Christina’s always been an artist that moves the bar and that’s what the great ones do,” Tricky said. “They don’t stay in the same place for too long and this album is just another move for her. I really feel it’s one of her best bodies of work that I’ve heard since Stripped.”
The LP will be Christina’s fourth studio album, and her first since 2006. But although the album is almost finished, it won’t be released until next year because Christina is too busy working on new film Burlesque with Cher.
“She’s gonna do the film first. She didn’t want to not be able to promote this record because it’s going to be a big record for her,” Stewart added. “The album is finished. She’s mixing. She hasn’t made a final decision about what the first single is, but I know everyone feels good about their options.”

Three’s a Charm for Britney Spears

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Upcoming Releases, Pop,

Britney Spears has moved on from seeking Amy to referencing threesomes. In her new single titled “3,” the pop princess suggests she likes being intimate with two lovers at the same time.
“Three is a charm / Two is not the same / I don’t see the harm / So are you game?” Britney sings on the track. The chorus continues: “One, two, three / Not only you and me / Got one eighty degrees / And I’m caught in between. Countin’ one, two, three / Peter, Paul and Mary / Getting’ down with 3P / Everybody loves ***.”

50 Cent Preparing to Make an Impact

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Upcoming Releases, Hip-Hop & Rap,
50 Cent thinks his new album could “impact as hard” as his debut LP.
The “Candy Shop” rapper - real name Curtis Jackson - says he is glad he has taken his time working on Before I Self Destruct because he now believes it is as good as his first record, Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
“I had more time to work on this record. I usually put an album out every two years, so this is almost an additional year,” he said. “This record could potentially be the one to top Get Rich or Die Tryin. I think it could impact as hard, but not necessarily sell as much.”
50 - who grew up in a tough New York neighourhood - also spoke about gangsta rap, insisting it is still relevant to modern society. “People are still living under these circumstances. They identify with it because they have similar struggles or have experienced something similar. They enjoy gangsta rap with a different intensity,” he added to BBC Newsbeat.
The singer insists he isn’t prepared to alter his style to make it less intense. “If we just follow trends then we’re all doing the same thing,” he said. “If Black Eyed Peas’ ‘Boom Boom Pow’ is hot, do we all go and make a ‘Boom Boom Pow’?”

Rihanna to Blast Chris Brown on CD

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Upcoming Releases, Pop,

Rihanna is set to speak about her volatile relationship with Chris Brown for the first time in a track on her upcoming CD.
Ne-Yo, who is working with the 21-year-old singer on the record, said: “Expect an edgier, almost angrier Rihanna on this one. Rihanna says some things on this album that you’ve never heard her say before.”
It is thought Rihanna could be planning to sing about the assault, or about the violence which marred the relationship. Court papers have revealed the pair were involved in at least two other “domestic violence” incidents before the February altercation, during which Brown punched, kicked and choked the pop beauty in his car.
