Fall Out Boy Had More Freedom in Secret Studio

Fall Out Boy say recording their album in secret gave them more freedom.
The "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" band went on hiatus between 2009 and last year, when they started to record their comeback, and singer Patrick Stump enjoyed the lack of pressure which came with working independently. "I think it was nice because we got to write in demo and even record without a bunch of people looking over our shoulders and kind of trying to get their hands in the mix so to speak. We just had to wait until we had the music for it. The thing for us is that we're really proud of and happy with what we had done in the last ten years or whatever. So if we didn't have songs that we were passionate about we weren't even going to bother, we weren't going to just to do it," he said, speaking to Absolute Radio's Pete Donaldson.

Fleetwood Mac to Release New EP

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours, Rock, New Releases,
Fleetwood Mac will release a new EP later this week. The band will be putting out their first new material since their Say You Will album from 2003, including new track "Sad Angel."
The band - Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks - debuted both that song and another, "Without You," last Thursday at the opening of their 2013 tour in Ohio, US. Lindsey announced news of the new release to the crowd at another show in Philadelphia. "One of the things we thought would be a good idea before we hit the road would be to go into the studio and cut some new material. So last year we did that. It's the best stuff we've done in a long time and in a few days we're going to drop an EP of new stuff," he said.
Ex-band member, Christine McVie - who left the band and retired from music in 1998 - has also said she would like to perform with the band at one of their London dates if they will allow her: "If they wanted me to, I might pop back on stage when they're in London just to do a little duet or something like that."

Jon Bon Jovi Denies Richie Sambora Feud

Richie Sambora didn't quit Bon Jovi's Because We Can tour over money.
Singer Jon Bon Jovi insists the guitarist - who suddenly left the band ahead of a show in Calgary, Canada on April 2 - hasn't fallen out with him over finances, as suggested by some sources. "I think Richie's doing all right, I haven't spoken to him. We were surprised. It was 3:30pm on show day on Tuesday and we got a phone call that he wouldn't be there. It's a personal matter. Don't believe what you read on [website] TMZ because it's the furthest thing from the truth," a source said.
Richie - who has been replaced by Phil X for the remainder of the US leg of the tour - missed some of Bon Jovi's tour dates in 2011 after he checked into rehab for alcohol issues, but sources insist he is currently still sober.
Jon also discussed the band's What About Now album, saying his main inspiration was rock 'n' roll legends The Rolling Stones: "It's a wide array. I just downloaded [David] Bowie's record to listen to that. I just bought a Bruno Mars record before that. Influences? [Tom] Waits. [Leonard] Cohen. They're huge lyrical influences. For rock bands, I look to the Stones, who at least show me where the bar is so you know how far and how high I gotta jump."

The Flaming Lips and Kesha are making an album together. The indie rockers and the outspoken singer had such a "blast" the last time they worked together they have decided to team up again to record an album of duets titled Lip$ha.
"[Ke$ha] is a blast on all levels. She's funny, she's humble. She's bad ass. She's everything. She's awesome. We're actually already working on an album with her. It's called Lip$ha," frontman Wayne Coyne said.

Paul McCartney used to be inspired by cinema adverts. The Beatles star says his early influences included anything that would make him laugh, and remembers he and bandmate George Harrison were particularly amused by a particular furniture commercial.
"There were millions of things. Information we'd had from very early childhood and from teenagehood, when you're going down the cinema, seeing something funny and making a song out of it. George and I really loved cinema adverts, for instance, which we used to take the p**s out of. There was one for furniture called Link, showing this couple eyeing stuff up, where the catchphrase was, 'Thinking of Linking?' And me and George were like, 'You know what? That's a good title.' So one of my earliest songs went, 'Thinking of linking my love with you, thinking and linking can only be done by two.' Terrible! We never did anything with it, of course."

Garbage Aim for 2014 Album Release

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Upcoming Releases, Rock,
Garbage is aiming to release their new album next year. The "Stupid Girl" rockers are keen to get back into the studio to record new music in order to prevent a long gap between LPs, which happened after their 2005 record Bleed Like Me and 2012's Not Your Kind Of People.
"I think we want to get going quicker. We'd like to see a record come out next year. We have a couple offers to play, but we may try to go into the studio in June and start working on another album," producer and drummer Butch Vig explained.
The band - also comprised of Shirley Manson, Steve Marker, and Duke Erikson - are "excited" to channel their ideas into their new songs and are aiming for an early 2014 release. Butch added, "We don't really have any songs started yet, but we all have ideas for songs. I have little riffs and things floating around in my head ... if we could get started some time in the summer and finish close to the end of the year, we could have it out in the spring or summer of next year, which would be cool."

Morrissey Unsure Over Future Shows

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours, Alternative, Pop, Rock,
Morrissey doesn't know if he will perform live again.
The "Everyday Is Like Sunday" singer is currently hospitalized suffering from double pneumonia, a bleeding ulcer and gastrointestinal condition Barrett's esophagus. He has had to cancel all of his booked live dates, and isn't sure when he will take to the stage again.
"It takes a lifetime to find the right words, and at the moment, I haven't got them. I've been a colossal pain where this continuously unpredictable illness is concerned, and now the physical limits have been reached. The tour had, in fact, been fantastic for all of us - a new slice of life full of concentrated power. The audiences everywhere have given so much, although I know that neither of us will ever receive our due. I hope this isn't the end, and I hope there will be other chances, minus the heavy burden of illness. Knots of grief today, but full of resolve for tomorrow."
Over the weekend, the 53-year-old former Smiths frontman's publicist confirmed he had had to cancel the rest of his concerts in America due to ill health and they will not be rescheduled.

Elton John Cancels Concert

Elton John pulled out of his Alabama concert for "medical reasons." The 65-year-old singer was due to play a gig at the Birmingham Jefferson Complex Arena in Alabama on Friday, but has been forced to cancel on medical advice, according to E! News.
A statement posted on Ticketmaster.com, just hours before the concert was due to begin, said, "This event has been cancelled. Refunds at Point of Purchase only. Internet & Phone orders will automatically be cancelled & refunded."
It was recently revealed Elton requested an extra hotel room just for his glasses during a recent visit to Brazil. The "Candle In The Wind" singer requested the additional quarters to house his spectacles at the Ouro Minas five-star hotel in Belo Horizonte ahead of a gig earlier this month, and he asked promoters of the show to ensure the temperature of the extra room was maintained at 60.8 degrees Fahrenheit. He also made a number of beverage requests including four bottles of cranberry juice, a pint of fresh skimmed milk and two bottles of good quality Pinot Grigio wine, as well as eight small bottles of French Evian water, and five large bottles or 12 small bottles of San Pellegrino sparkling water.

Arctic Monkeys Planning New Album

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Upcoming Releases, Alternative, Rock,
Arctic Monkeys are planning to release a new album this year.
The "R U Mine" band's drummer, Matt Helders, confirmed plans to follow up 2011's Suck it and See in 2013, with the group currently hard at work in the US. "Hopefully we'll get it out this year - that's the plan," he told The Sun.
However, he has also recently said the band - which also includes singer Alex Turner, bass player Nick O'Malley and guitarist Jamie Cook - are in the early stages of writing and haven't recorded any songs "specifically" for a new album yet.
"We've just been working stuff out with the band. Nothing serious yet. It's just been us four working stuff out like we used to I guess. We had a bit of a break. It's always weird when you first get back into it to know what kind of songs we write any more," he added.
