Placebo Announces Seventh Album and Tour Dates

Placebo has announced their seventh album, Loud Like Love. The British alternative band - Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal and Steve Forrest - have also confirmed a European tour later his year to promote the record.
The album is the band's first in four years, following 2009's Battle For The Sun. It features ten new tracks recorded in London over the last year and will be to be available in five different formats, including 3D Lenticular Super Deluxe Box Set and a colored vinyl edition. Fans can pre-order the album from May 31 in time for the official release date of September 16.
The rock trio will kick off their tour in Warsaw, Poland, on November 12. Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday, and the band are expected to follow their European dates with shows in the US, Latin America, Australia, Asia and other more soon.

Jared Leto Visited ‘Magical Land’ to Write Album

Jared Leto went on a journey through a "magical land" while writing Love Lust Faith + Dreams.
The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman embarked on a spiritual quest around India for inspiration and it was during his trip that he wrote and recorded several tracks from their fourth album in a mobile studio, which helped make the record a "new beginning" for the band.
"I think the first three albums are kind of a trilogy in a sense and this is a new beginning. It was an unforgettably journey through this magical land. It was about absorbing the culture. I met wonderful people and went off the beaten track."
Part of this fresh start for the band - also made up of Jared's brother Shannon and Tomo Milicevic - included leaving behind the emotions captured on their last album, This Is War, and instead being more "reflective" through their music.

Eric Avery Quits Nine Inch Nails

Eric Avery has quit Nine Inch Nails.
The 48-year-old bass player announced his decision to leave the band - formed of Trent Reznor, Alessandro Cortini, IIan Rubin, Adrian Belew and Josh Eustis - because he felt too "overwhelmed" to commit to over a year of touring. He instead wants to focus on his solo career in Los Angeles and is grateful for the support of his bandmates on his life-changing decision.
"It's with very mixed emotions I tell you all that I'm pulling out of NIN [Nine Inch Nails]. I know. Its been a tough call and I don't know if it's the right one. But I really want to focus on my musical life here in LA, on film work in particular. As the tour dates kept growing ... I just got overwhelmed. I just got home from a year of heavy travel with Garbage, the idea of leaving town for another year and a half, and with all the intensity that Nails demands ... fortunately my friend Trent understands all this and appreciated my pulling the plug now instead of deep into 2013 and 14," he said, writing in a post on Facebook.

30 Seconds to Mars were almost destroyed by a legal battle. The group admit their future was in doubt when Virgin Records and EMI Music sued them for $30 million in 2009, citing breach of contract, and because the sum was so huge, the band had no choice but to fight the case in order to save their futures.
"The last record we had quite a few problems. We battled our record company. They sued us for $30 million. We made a film about it called Artifact, a documentary that is coming out later this summer. It was mind-blowing, The number was too big to conceptualize it but it was very real. Not only was there the financial risk at stake but there was the risk of losing our careers. We felt we had an important and just fight. I am glad we stood up for what we believed in. Ultimately we were victorious and we are here. The story went exactly as it was supposed too," frontmnan Jared Leto said.

Katy Perry Joins Rolling Stones in Las Vegas

Katy Perry performed with the Rolling Stones in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The "Part Of Me" hitmaker took to the stage at MGM Grand Garden Arena with the legendary rockers as part of their 50 and Counting tour, wowing the crowds with a duet alongside frontman Sir Mick Jagger to their track "Beast of Burden" from hit record Some Girls.
Shortly after the gig, an excited Katy took to her Twitter to share her delight with fans: "Yes, I just did gyrated on Mick Jagger. WHAT?! #Stones50 (sic)"
The band - made up of Mick, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts - were also joined by their former member Mick Taylor and the quartet looked back on the night's antics with a series of tweets and photos. "Tonight the Rolling Stones rocked Las Vegas! They were joined by Katy Perry for Beast Of Burden and Mick Taylor for Midnight Rambler and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction #stones50 (sic)" one wrote.
Katy's appearance follows a string of big names who have surprised the audience by turning up with the rockers.

Blur are starting work on a new album.
The "Parklife" band will work on their first record since 2003's Think Tank - which didn't include guitarist Graham Coxon - after having to pull out of some dates in their current tour.
Speaking during a concert at Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Expo on Sunday singer Damon Albarn said, "We were supposed to play in Taiwan and Japan next week, but due to unforeseen circumstances we weren't able to go there. So we have a week in Hong Kong, so we thought it would be a good time to try and record another record."
After touring Think Tank, Blur - which also includes bass player Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree - went on hiatus so its members could pursue other projects. They reunited in 2008 and started playing live in 2009. The band then released two tracks, "The Puritan" and "Under the Westway," last year.

Paramore Cancelled Salt Lake City Gig

Paramore cancelled a gig on Monday to give Hayley Williams time to recover from a virus.
The "Now" rockers - Hayley, Jeremy Davis and Taylor York- called off their performance in Salt Lake City, Utah, to allow the frontwoman to regain good health after being struck with a sore throat last Tuesday and then food poisoning.
Hayley took to her Tumblr to offer her sincere apologies to the groups' fans and give her account of the vicious virus. "This started last week when we were meant to play [talk show] Conan. And I woke up feeling really sick. I thought it was just a sore throat but didn't want to risk not being well for our own shows, so we cancelled. I stayed in and got some food and, of course, caught food poisoning from it... Because, why not? Not to get all graphic on you but it was a lot like that scene in The Exorcist where she projectile pukes green and it's really violent. That ended up burning my throat which made it sore all over again. Then to make matters worse I woke up a couple of days later having gotten some sort of virus, which is what I'm still dealing with now. Clearly, it has not been my week," she wrote.

Elton John Gives Advice to Fall Out Boy

Elton John advised Fall Out Boy to "p**s people off" on Save Rock And Roll. The legendary singer appears on the "Dance, Dance" band's new album, and they knew they were doing the right thing with their songs when he said they would cause upset.
"Elton John sings on the song 'Save Rock and Roll' and going in there with him [to record] I was a little bit concerned what he was going to say about it. But he loved every part of it and that was reassuring like, 'Okay we're doing the right thing.' He was like, 'You're going to p**s off a lot of people and you should totally p**s those people off,'" singer Patrick Stump explained.
