Traditionally, Super Bowl performers are joined by special guests, and although nothing has been confirmed, fans will expect to see cameos from Beyonce's husband, rapper Jay-Z, and her former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

RihannaRihanna has been named Billboard's Top Pop Artist of the last 20 years.

The "Diamonds" hitmaker tops the music magazine's list of the most successful artists in the history of its Pop Songs chart, which started on October 3, 1992. The magazine awarded her top spot for her achievements on the chart, which include 34 appearances with 21 top ten hits, and nine number one songs, an accolade she shares with Katy Perry, placed at sixth on the list.

The top ten was dominated by solo women singers, with Usher the only male, and Black eyed Peas the only group. Pink is in second place, followed by Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson and Mariah Carey.

Katy comes in next, and New York based radio program director Sharon Dastur, reminisced about the first time she worked with her: "Katy's very first single, 'I Kissed a Girl,' had just recently come out and we were playing it on [radio station] Z100. We started to feel an early buzz on the song, but the masses still weren't that familiar with who Katy was. We invited her to come on-stage at our Jingle Ball to help introduce one of the acts performing. We weren't sure if the crowd would be familiar with her by name, so we suggested that when she went out there, she should sing the hook of 'I Kissed a Girl' a capella. As soon as the crowd heard that, they sang every word along with her. Katy has told us that she'll always remember that moment."

Bruno MarsBruno Mars had "creative freedom" on Unorthodox Jukebox. The "Locked out of Heaven" singer is preparing the release of his second album, and enjoyed skipping between different genres on each track of the album.

"This is me going into the studio and recording and writing whatever I want. This album represents my freedom. I listen to a lot of music and I want to have the freedom and luxury to walk into a studio and say, 'Today I want to do a hip-hop, R&B, soul or rock record,'" he told Billboard.

The 26-year-old singer said his desire to keep changing his sound between songs wasn't popular with record executives at the beginning of his career, when he was dropped by the Universal Motown label: "I've had big record label presidents look me in the face and say, 'Your music sucks, you don't know who you are, your music is all over the place, and we don't know how to market this stuff. Pick a lane and come back to us. That was disgusting to me, because I'm not trying to be a circus act."

AdeleAdele has criticized pop stars who use sex to sell records.

The pregnant "Someone Like You" hitmaker has slammed her chart rivals - who include Rihanna, Madonna and Lady Gaga - who strip off in their videos to promote themselves and insists most female singers look very different in real life to how they look on screen.

"They don't look how they do in magazines or videos. I have seen them up close. Exploiting yourself sexually is not a good look. I don't find it encouraging," she said.

Adele has always had a fuller figure but she insists she would never go on a diet or change her image to try and be more successful. The 24-year-old singer - whose last album 21 has sold over 23 million copies worldwide - prefers to just let her music define her. "I have never seen magazine covers and music videos and thought, 'I need to look like that to be a success.' To sell more records I don't need to go that. I just stand there and sing. I'm not worried that I'm a 'plus size' and so much bigger than other artists. No matter what you look like the key is to be happy with yourself," she is quoted as saying.

James FrancoJames Franco is hoping to carve out a new career as a rockstar. The actor will release his debut album MotorCity under the name "Daddy" on Tuesday.

"I know I do a lot of things. I'm very aware of that. I'm sure there are a lot of skeptical people, hearing about me doing music. To me, it all comes from a similar place. It's like using different tools to express things in different ways," he told Rolling Stone.

James has teamed up with his artistic college friend Tim O'Keefe for the album and it also features guest vocals by Motown singer Smokey Robinson who decided to collaborate with the actor after meeting him on a flight. The duo have just unveiled their romantic new music video for "Love in the Old Days," which was directed by James.

The 34-year-old star revealed he wrote and produced MotorCity while filming the Oz: The Great and Powerful in Detroit.
