VIDEO: Lady Gaga Performs Brand New Song

UPDATE: Lady Gaga said in a tweet that the song was “written in NY on the piano” she grew up on.
It wouldn’t be an authentic Lady Gaga performance if the singer didn’t do something to keep the audience on their toes.
During the recent 12th Annual White Tie & Tiara Ball, Gaga chose to introduce a song no one had ever heard before. The record, titled “You and I,” was perfectly suited for an event benefitting the Elton John AIDS Foundation. (Couldn’t you just imagine those two artists playing it together at their own pianos?)
Although Gaga said she didn’t think the “rock ‘n’ roll tune” would ever be released as a single, I actually think it could do quite well. What do you think?

-Simon & Garfunkel’s North American tour has been indefinitely postponed. According to the group’s website, Art Garfunkel has been dealing with a “vocal paresis.”
-Kanye West will perform on the BET Awards this Sunday. It’ll be his first awards show appearance since interrupting Taylor Swift on MTV last year.
-What you don’t know about Expose singer Gioia Bruno (real name Carmen Bruna) is that she was arrested for trafficking meth last year. She’s reportedly been high on Celebrity Rehab‘s watch list.
-Rapper Fat Joe is being accused of sexual assault. A woman claims Joe (real name Joseph Cartagena) and members of his entourage assaulted her inside a limo earlier this week.
-The death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was the result of a drug overdose. The 38-year-old, who was found May 25, had morphine and fentanyl in his system.

Christina Aguilera: Autotune is Okay with Me

I’m sure at one point, Cher never imagined she would ever use something like Auto-Tune on her vocals - but then she scored a huge hit with 1998’s “Believe.” So should we be so shocked to hear that her Burlesque co-star, Christina Aguilera, is open to implementing the technology as well?
Although Christina clearly has no problem performing vocal gymnastics when she sings, the Grammy winner admits she’s not a total purist anymore.
In this interview with Sirius FM Satellite Radio, Aguilera - who used the tool on her new album for songs like “Elastic Love” - says she “doesn’t get annoyed with the Auto-Tune thing, but only if it’s used in a creative way.”
So what do you think about Auto-Tune? Is there really a “creative way” to use it?

-A surprise Jay-Z performance outside David Letterman’s studio will not happen on Monday. A permit was not granted for the concert by New York City officials.
-A future reunion for Jay-Z’s wife (Beyonce) and the other Destiny’s Child ladies will also not happen. Ex-manager Matthew Knowles squashed all rumors about a performance or an album.
-According to one person “A Day in the Life” was worth $1.2 million. That’s how much handwritten lyrics to the John Lennon-penned song were sold for this week.
-Please don’t let me be misunderstood. Mary J. Blige will be playing Nina Simone in a movie about the singer’s life. Shooting on Nina will start this fall.
-Sophie B. Hawkins (remember her?) is donating all proceeds from her song “The Land, the Sea and the Sky” to help clean-up efforts in the Gulf area. The song is available on iTunes.

Can You Guess, Guess, Guess Michael Jackson’s Biggest Hit?

“Thriller” may have been the Michael Jackson video most fans wanted to watch, but it surprisingly wasn’t the song most people wanted to play, play, play.
According to Billboard, it was a tune that Jackson did with Paul McCartney that ranks as the late singer’s best hit. “Say, Say, Say” topped a list of 50 tracks followed by “Billie Jean” and “I’ll Be There.”
The list, which was compiled to help commemorate the upcoming anniversary of Michael’s death (June 25), took a number of factors into consideration to determine a track’s performance in the Hot 100. (You can read the full explanation behind the inverse point system here.) Although “Billie Jean” spent more weeks at #1, the Jackson/McCartney collaboration lasted longer on the charts.

The video went live today, and features Katy alongside Snoop Dogg, and a bunch of delectable and tasty treats. It’s some sort of Alice in Candyland mashup, and it works nicely.
