LFO's Rich CroninRich Cronin, lead singer for the musical group LFO, passed away this week after a long health battle. He was 36 years old.

Rich, who penned the trio’s breakout hit “Summer Girls,” was diagnosed with leukemia in 2005. Despite a number of setbacks—including chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, a stroke and a return of the disease—Cronin was able to perform again with his former band members last summer.

“He was so happy,” Brad Fischetti told EW about Rich’s return to the stage. Although the group had hoped to hit the road again later this year, Cronin found himself back in the hospital.

“We really became soulmates,” Brad recalled about their last tour together. “Devin [Lima] and I both realized how much we loved him, despite the differences we had in the past. In New York City at the Highline Ballroom, he thanked the crowd at the end of the show. I’ll always have that voice in my mind, because it was such a sincere thank you. Really, that’s the memory that’s sticking out in my brain.”

Charles Haddon, the frontman for Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, was pronounced dead Friday night after a performance with his British group in Hasselt, Belgium. The 22-year-old, who had climbed a telecommunications mast, jumped and fell onto the backstage parking lot at the Pukkelpop festival.

Mariah Carey on American Idol

If American Idol producers fail to nab either Jennifer Lopez or Shania Twain as a judge, there’s one other singer they might be able to score: Mariah Carey.

According to America’s Got Talent host , his wife would actually be interested in the position.

“You know what? [Mariah] talks about it,” Cannon said about a hypothetical job offering. “She says, ‘I would love to do that.’ She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don’t know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do Idol. Let’s start the campaign!” (So when you say “time,” Nick—are you saying she might be busy being pregnant?)

Carey, like Lopez and Twain, has already made an appearance on the FOX reality program. She served as mentor during Season 7.
