Will.i.am and Cheryl ColeWill.i.am believes Cheryl Cole is similar to Michael Jackson.

The Black Eyed Peas star - who manages the Girls Aloud singer - thinks Cheryl is as much as a perfectionist as the late "Thriller" hitmaker, and claims her upcoming third solo album will be "big."

"I can't give too much away but Cheryl's album is going to be big. Like Michael Jackson she is a complete perfectionist. Unless she is 100 per cent happy with something she just won't put it out there. She has got some of the biggest artists and producers in the industry to work with her, not just because she is talented but because everybody who meets her loves her."

Will.i.am believes Cheryl's genuine nature is what makes people warm to her: "She is one of the most likeable people in the industry and to be genuine is as important as talent."

Avril LavigneAvril Lavigne cooks to forget the pressures of her music career. The 27-year-old singer's favorite ways to relax and take her mind off her pop star lifestyle are spending time in her kitchen making food for other people and channeling her creativity into painting.

"I love to paint huge abstract canvases and hang them up in my house. I don't watch much TV but I love to cook. I cook as much as I can. When I'm home I cook all the time and when I'm on tour I cook for my band on the bus. It makes me happy."

When she is cooking, Avril loves to accompany her food with a glass of red wine, and there is a particular bottle she is desperate to try, but thinks it is too expensive: "I like to drink red wine. One bottle of wine I'd love to try is Californian red Screaming Eagle. The problem is it costs $5,000."

Despite her quiet habits, Avril insists she is still a "rock star." She added, "Put it this way, there's a reason why I tattooed 'f**k' on my ribcage. It is and always will be one of my favorite words. Seriously. I am a rock star. F**k it."

Justin Bieber and Carly Rae JepsenJustin Bieber surprised Carly Rae Jepsen with his songwriting abilities.

The "Baby" hitmaker has championed the Canadian singer/songwriter, even appearing in the music video for her song "Call Me Maybe," and while Carly was a fan of Justin's music, she had no idea what a prolific songwriter her is.

"[Justin's" extremely talented -- and, I mean, obviously that's pretty well-known -- but in ways that I didn't realise. I knew that he sang, I knew that he was sort of infectious in his personality, I knew that he danced, but I didn't know how strong of a songwriter he was, and my first introduction to him was actually in his studio and he played me a couple songs he had written, and I was really impressed and I was so glad, because I really, really liked him," she said, speaking in an MTV Twitter chat with fans.

Carrly also admires Taylor Swift and would love to work with her:

Justin BieberJustin Bieber says there isn't a lot of rapping on his new album. The 18-year-old singer can be heard talking/rapping on his latest track "Boyfriend," but he insists his upcoming third LP Believe is still a traditional pop record.

"There's not a lot of rapping on the album. As people know, I'm a singer, and I don't want to get people confused with that, but it's something that I love to do, so you guys will definitely hear more of it," he told MTV News.

On "Boyfriend" the verses are performed in a rap style by Bieber and the lyrics include the lines "If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go/ I can take you places you ain't never been before/ Baby take a chance or you'll never ever know/ I got money in my hands that I'd really like to blow/ Swag swag swag, on you."

The music superstar has collaborated with several big names on the record, including Timbaland, Drake and Lil Wayne.

MadonnaMadonna's latest album is set to have the biggest second week sales drop in chart history.

The 53-year-old singer's new record MDNA debuted at the top of the US album charts last week after achieving sales of 359,000. However, according to Forbes, in its second week of release, sales fell to approximately 46,000, making it a record-breaking 88 per cent fewer copies sold.

Reports say Madonna's first-week sales were inflated by CDs that were bundled with the purchase of concert tickets for her upcoming tour. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 185,000 copies of MDNA were sold as part of the ticket package deal, meaning that only 179,000 were individual album sales. Without these ticket package sales, MDNA would have placed at Number two on the charts behind Lionel Richie's Tuskegee, which achieved 199,000 copies that week.

Forbes' Roger Friedman believes Lionel was robbed of the number one position: "That promotion artificially inflated Madonna's numbers, putting her first before Lionel Richie and his Tuskegee album. I do think that all the people involved in the Madonna ticket-CD deal should apologize to Richie for denying him his rightful place at number one."

America's One DirectionThe American One Direction have vowed not to be "pushed around," by the UK group's manger, Simon Cowell.

The California-based rock band are suing the British and Irish outfit of the same name, claiming they own the rights to the name in America, and have vowed not to be swayed by the power of their record company, Syco and its parent label, Sony Music.

"I don't care how powerful Simon Cowell is. He's mad if he thinks we're going to lie down, sit down or back down over this - whatever power and money he has behind him. The British One Direction have Mr. Cowell's enormous resources behind them. We on the other hand do not. In our view, we were here first. We have rights, we have talent, and we have heart," said Dan O'Leary, who manages the American group.

The American One Direction - fronted by Dan's son, Sean O'Leary - have filed a copyright infringement claim in California, seeking three times the profits earned by the UK based band and $1 million compensation. Their lawsuit claims the UK group's record companies were aware of the fact the two bands had the same name as early as 2011 but chose to ignore this fact.

Selena GomezSelena Gomez is pausing her music career while she concentrates on acting.

The 19-year-old "Love You Like a Love Song" hitmaker - who recently wrapped filming on comedy Spring Breakers - has decided to put her singing on the backburner while she makes a name for herself in Hollywood.

"I'm just kind of halting music for a bit. [I've] been really focused on more acting. For me it's been fun to take risks and do things that are completely different. To be honest, maybe some of you guys might not be comfortable with it ... I'm still the same person. Things that challenge me really excite me."

But that doesn't mean the former Disney star won't be reuniting with the other members of her band Selena Gomez & the Scene to create more music in the future: "I'm doing another movie called The Getaway with Ethan Hawke. It's really, really exciting. So we're doing that and then hopefully another movie, but that hasn't really been confirmed yet. Then I'll start working on my fourth album, which will be the best album I'll ever do!"

MadonnaMadonna is hiring five decoys to protect her on tour.

The "4 Minutes" hitmaker has reportedly come up with the plan to allow her to move around in private during her forthcoming concert series, which kicks off in May, and is confident it will fool onlookers.

"It was her own idea - and she conceived it both for protection and to stay private while enjoying down time. On tour, the 'clone quintet' will be sent out ahead of her to act as diversions when she exits hotels, restaurants, concert halls, or any public venues. Madonna is concerned about safety in foreign countries and doesn't want to be victimized by speeding paparazzi chasing her. It's a brilliant decoy plan and she's betting it will work," a source said.

Madonna herself is giving the five decoys lessons to perfect their mannerisms in order to make the plan work as smoothly as possible. "Five ladies will be made up to look like dead ringers, and Madonna's personally giving them lessons right now on how to walk, talk and act like her," the source added.

Adele at this year's GrammysAdele plans to release a new single later this year.

The "Someone Like You" hitmaker - whose debut album 19 came out in 2008 followed by 2011 record 21 - will bring out a song at the end of 2012, but she is not expecting a complete a full album for a ''good two years''.

"I'm not going on a break for that long. There was a good two years between my first and second album, so it will be the same this time. There will be a new song probably coming out at the end of the year, and then it depends how quickly I write some new songs - but it won't be for a good two years," she replied when asked if her fans will have to wait until 2014 for new material.

Adele - who won six Grammy Awards and two BRIT Awards earlier this year - would release another album "next week" if she didn't insist on writing all of her own material, but she likes to take her time penning lyrics: "I have to write another record, if I didn't write my own songs I'd be out next week with a new album, but because I write my own songs I have to take time and live a little bit."
