Lady Gaga Kicks Off ArtRave Tour
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Pop, New Releases,
Lady Gaga kicked off her ArtRave: ARTPOP Ball Tour in Florida on Sunday night.
The "Applause" hitmaker ditched her usual grunge style and took to the stage in a cute polkadot latex leotard and fishnet tights at the BB&T Center in Fort Lauderdale before going through a number of costume changes. She later opted for a shoulder-length platinum blonde wig and futuristic white gown, a jeweled leotard with a blue orb in the center of her chest, and also dressed up as a giant squid in another polkadot number.
The 27-year-old star, who is touring to support her ARTPOP album, took to Twitter ahead of her first show and posted, "I can't believe the show is tonight, been dreaming about it since I wrote the first song for the album. I love you monsters. LETS PARTY [sic]."
Gaga performed hits such as "Just Dance," "Bad Romance," "G.U.Y," "Swine," and "Applause," along with her new song "Donatella," which she sang for the first time in honour of her fashion designer friend, Donatella Versace, and another new track, Partynauseous.

Rihanna is preparing to release her next album with Roc Nation after leaving Def Jam.
The "Diamonds" singer, who was already being managed by Jay Z's record label, has now inked a deal and her profile on Roc Nation's website has been updated, which lists her as one of their big name acts.
Rihanna first signed her record deal with Def Jam in 2005, when she was just 17, and claims then-label-president Jay Z wouldn't let her out of his office until she put pen to paper. Since then, she has released all seven of her chart conquering albums with the label, including 2011's Unapologetic, despite Jay Z leaving his role to start up Roc Nation in 2009.
Rihanna had already parted ways with her former manager Marc Jordan and signed with Jay's Roc Nation management team in 2010 but it now appears she is also signed to the label.

Ed Sheeran Slams Backstreet Boys for Not Playing Hits
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Reunions, Pop,
Ed Sheeran has hit out at the Backstreet Boys for playing new music at their reunion shows instead of classic hits.
The "Sing" hitmaker slammed the 90's boyband - made up of Brian Littrell, A.J McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter and Kevin Richardson - for letting their fans down by performing new material during their 20th Anniversary Tour. "I study how other people perform and that is unacceptable, as the Backstreet Boys have so many hits. Do not do that ever again, that is not fair," Sheeran said.

Lily Allen: I Need to Apologize to Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Gossip, Pop, New Releases,
Lily Allen is planning to apologize to Rita Ora and models Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn over songs on her new album.
The "Hard Out Here" hitmaker, who is about to release her new record Sheezus, appears to hit out at the stars by joking about celebrities who attend corporate events. "I still need to write letters to Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne. The song where I appear to slag off Rita and Jourdan is very much the same premise as Cheryl Tweedy. It's not about them, it's about the idea of them," she said, according to The Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old star, who has made her comeback after a four-year hiatus, was copied into harsh emails about her new material from a focus group when her record label carried out market research for her new album: "I accidentally got copied in on a whole bunch of it and reading it was one of the most horrible moments of my life. They don't actually tell the people what it is that they're listening to. So a lot of it was just people going, 'Is this Lily Allen? It f****ng is Lily Allen', 'If this is her I thought she'd ####### retired, the stupid ****!'"

Lily Allen Describes Lady Gaga as a “Martyr”
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Pop, New Releases, Sales,
Lily Allen has called Lady Gaga a "martyr" for choosing "art" over commercial success.
The "Air Balloon" hitmaker has defended her fellow singer after she was criticized for her latest album ARTPOP being a relative flop, insisting she deserves credit for the risks she has taken.
"If she's not succeeding commercially because she's standing by what she does as art, then that's a f**king great thing. That's to be commended. That's what makes a martyr. There's nothing wrong with that," she told Rolling Stone.
Lily has had similar problems with her own music, and admitted she had to choose her singles carefully to make sure they were acceptable for radio play. "I would love 'Hard Out Here' to have been a single, but you can't have a song that has the word 'bitch' in it 72 times on the radio," she explained.

Kelly Rowland has recruited Pharrell Williams for her fifth solo album.
The 33-year-old star is planning the follow-up to Talk A Good Game and has managed to get the "Get Lucky" hitmaker to work on new material with her in the studio. "I'm at the very very beginning stages of the record. We're at the point now where we are all talking - writers [and] producers - we're all excited. There are fresh ideas coming into the studio right now. We're trying different beats. It's a really great start. Pharrell [Williams] is on board. We already talked about it. I'd love for Timbaland to be on board. We've had discussions as well. I want to try to some new talent as well. There's so much new talent ... There's somebody out there with something new to give and I'd love to tap into that as well," she told Billboard.com.
Kelly recently revealed she's parted ways with Universal Republic for a "fresh new start" and wants to try something different: "I need something new and I've earned the right to make my own choices and make my own decisions. I wish them well. They wish me well. No hard feelings, I just needed a fresh new start."

Pink Wins Debut Album Royalties Court Case
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Industry News, Pop, R&B / Soul,
Pink's court case against Specialists Entertainment production company has been dismissed.
The singer's record label Sony Music will get to keep the $36,213.31 they were accused of withholding in royalties to two producers, who claimed they were owed the cash for working on two tracks, "Hiccup" and "Can't Take Me Home," from the star's 2000 debut album of the same name.
According to RadarOnline.com, a New York appeal court sided with Pink - real name Alecia Moore - and her label on March 4 and have dismissed the case. The site reports that the legal documents explained that "granted plaintiff's cross motion to amend its complaint to add a lain for breach of contract as a third-party beneficiary as against defendant Sony Music Holdings, Inc., unanimously reversed, on the law, without costs, the cross motion denied, and the complaint dismissed. The agreement, requesting and authorizing Sony to deduct a portion of royalties payable to Moore and to pay them directly to plaintiff, by its express terms, negates any intent to permit enforcement by third-parties."
It was ruled the producers cannot claim money from Sony because the agreement was with Pink.

Akon: Gaga’s Career Is on the Decline
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Collaborations, Gossip, Hip-Hop & Rap, Pop, New Releases,
Akon claims his record label cut ties with Lady Gaga because her career is on the decline.
The "Senegalese" hitmaker, who initially signed Gaga to his Kon Live Distribution record label under Interscope in 2007, claims he "cashed out" on the Born This Way singer because he felt her career had hit a "peak."
In an interview with US DJ Sway on Sirius XM, he was asked if he was "still involved with the star," to which he responded, "Actually I cashed out. I got out while the gooding [sic] was hot. It's like a business, you build it to sell it. When I got it to the peak of where I felt it couldn't go nowhere, and there was nowhere left to go but down, I cashed out." He added, "In other words I sold my share and got out before it was too late."
During the earlier years Akon was involved in Gaga's first album The Fame and co-wrote her hit debut single "Just Dance."
