Beyonce and Jay-Z: Hollywood’s Biggest Money Makers

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z have topped a poll of Hollywood’s highest-earning couples compiled by Forbes.com, with combined earnings of $122 million between June 2008 and June 2009.
The singer and her hip-hop mogul husband amassed the massive sum through their music, movies, fragrances and endorsement deals with brands including Budweiser and American Express.
Their earnings were almost double that of runners-up Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, whose $69 million was largely based on Harrison’s $65 million Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull paycheck. (That amount still put them $14 million above third-placed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.)

DJ Earworm drops the 2009 United State of Pop mashup music video

DJ Earworm has once again worked his magic, releasing the 2009 United State of Pop mashup of the top 25 Billboard hits of the year. If you’ve never seen his work and are a music fan, you’ll want to take a look. Serious props need to be given to Earworm for the way he is able to take 25 different tracks and put them together into something that not only sounds cohesive, but is something you’d want to listen to multiple times. Beyonce Knowles Changing Her Name

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z are about to change their names. Jay-Z - whose real name is Shawn Carter - will now be known as Shawn Knowles-Carter, while Beyonce is to become Beyonce Knowles-Carter.
“They want to keep Knowles because Beyonce’s parents didn’t have any sons and they’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any children themselves,” a source told the Daily Star.
Earlier this week, the Knowles family suffered a blow when it was announced that Beyonce’s parents Tina and Mathew would be divorcing after 29 years of marriage. In October, rumors surfaced that Mathew may have been unfaithful. Alexandra Wright filed a paternity suit, though Matthew has denied being the father of her unborn child.
In a statement the estranged couple claimed their divorce would not be “an ugly, messy fight” and that they would continue working together amicably.

Black Eyed Peas’ Bold Concert Approach

The Black Eyed Peas are about to undertake their first arena tour but band member Taboo said that the group will not be spending excessive time practicing.
“The thing is about our group is we never rehearse. That’s always been our thing. I know it sounds weird and it sounds funny for such a big tour,” he revealed. “I know we have a couple of rehearsals in Vegas, so, hopefully we’ll be able to knock it out in a month.”
Despite their lack of prep time, Taboo is promising fans something special. “There’s a lot of things that we’re putting into this tour that we’re not used to. We’re glad to be stepping up into the world of a big arena tour,” he added.
Discussing the band’s huge success, Taboo said that they had all “come such a long way.” He told LiveDaily.com: “The dreams keep on becoming realities for us. We’re grateful to have our fifth album be our biggest album to date.”

Beyonce Dominates Grammy Nominations

Beyonce Knowles has been nominated for ten Grammy awards.
The “Halo” singer and Taylor Swift - who has been recognized in eight categories - were revealed as the most nominated artists at yesterday’s Grammy Nominations Concert Live! event. The two stars will be competing against each other for the coveted Record, Song and Album of the Year prizes.
Kanye West, soul singer Maxwell and the Black Eyed Peas all received six nominations, while Jay-Z, French DJ David Guetta and Lady Gaga are each up for five awards.
Lady Gaga’s The Fame and single “Poker Face” were both nominated in the top categories while the Peas are in the running for Album of the Year (The E.N.D.) and Record of the Year (“I Gotta Feeling”). Kings of Leon‘s “Use Somebody” made the list for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Dave Matthews Band’s Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King was the final nomination for Album of the Year, while Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings” rounded off the Song of the Year nominations.
The 52nd annual Grammy Awards will take place on January 31 in Los Angeles. You can find a complete list of nominees here.

Wyclef Jean Hopeful About Fugees Reunion

Wyclef Jean wants to reform The Fugees.
The rapper, singer and producer is currently working on his solo material and says he hopes that when former bandmates Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel hear his new EP, From the Hut to the Projects to the Mansion it will inspire them to reunite.
“Somehow The Fugees is the soundtrack to everyone’s house. What I’m hoping is that this group really gets inspired by the new movement that I’m on right now, the new music that I’ve got coming out, the movement with the youth, and I’m hoping they’ll get inspired and be like, ‘Yo, let’s find Clef and let’s get this thing cracking.’ And it would be an honor to go in and make it a super album,” Jean told DJBooth.net.

Chris Brown Booted from Timbaland Track

There are many things Chris Brown should avoid doing right now, and performing on a song called “Maniac” is probably one of them.
Although the R&B artist had been scheduled to appear on Timbaland’s upcoming album, Brown was scratched from Shock Value II. The decision is reportedly due to Chris’ personal - not vocal - issues.
Sources tell TMZ that “some people” felt it was in appropriate for the singer to be associated with “Maniac.” (The song has since been retitled “The One I Love.”) But a rep for Timbaland claims Brown’s removal was simply a “creative decision for both parties.” Uh-huh...
Shock Value II and Chris Brown’s Graffiti both drop on December 8th.

Run-DMC’s Story Headed for the Stage

Run-DMC are in talks to turn their story into a Broadway production.
The two surviving members of the pioneering hip-hop group - Reverend Run and DMC - have met with a Hollywood producer to discuss turning the story of their career into a musical. The project is to being headed up by Paula Wagner - who produced Hollywood films Mission: Impossible and Valkyrie.
“Run-DMC’s lyrics and music are infectious. It’s vibrant, it’s alive,” Paula said. “Who they are and what they did was a culturally defining moment. It embraced everybody. Their rise to fame is innately theatrical. It speaks to everybody.”
