Kanye West Readying Sixth Album

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Upcoming Releases, Hip-Hop & Rap,
Kanye West will bring out his sixth solo album "right after" G.O.O.D. Music's Cruel Summer is released.
The "Stronger" hitmaker is likely to release the record before the end of the year, with the target being for it to quickly follow his collective's compilation LP into stores. "He's coming right after that. I'm not working on that Cruel Summer album, I'm working on his album," said Def Jam Vice President and producer No I.D.
Though No I.D. isn't working on Cruel Summer - which features artists including Big Sean, Pusha T, CyHi the Prynce, Common, Kid Cudi, Teyana Taylor, Mr. Hudson and Q-Tip - he promises fans will enjoy the record: "This is Kanye. You know what to expect from the family. He hasn't missed yet, so don't expect him to miss."
There's no word yet as to the title of Kanye's upcoming album.

Nas wanted to set fire to ex-wife Kelis' wedding dress after they split up.
The couple separated in 2009 after a four-year marriage and the 38-year-old rapper - who has two-year-old son Knight with the "Milkshake" hitmaker - was very "hurt and angry" when he found a reminder of their big day.
"I found it in my house and thought, it's going somewhere. Either on the cover of my album, or burning in a garbage can. I was angry when I first found it. Hurt and angry - but I don't think she left it deliberately to hurt me. It's just part of the dress, so I don't know where the rest of it is. But it made all the sense in the world for me to hold on to that. I guess that's just my personality," he said, explaining why the cover of his new album Life Is Good, which depicts him alone in a club with the dress draped over his knee.

Ludacris' 8th album is a "progression" on his previous work.
The Atlanta-based rapper will soon release his new LP Ludaversal, and hopes fans of his unique style of rapping will see a new side to him.
"This album Ludaversal, it's all about progression. We're taking it to heights that you never, never seen before. I've had seven albums, so right now it's about trying to go to places that I haven't been," he said.

I've had a lot of personal experiences, so you're going to get to know the real me and things that have been going on over the past three or four years."

Ice-T thinks rap needs to be given more respect "as an art form."
The veteran rapper has made a documentary, Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap, in which he debates rhyming with a number of key figures from the genre - including Nas, Chuck D, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and Run-D.M.C - and said he made it to show young people the origins of the genre.
"I was looking at the state of hip-hop, which has gotten a little pop for me, and I just wanted to document where we came from. All I want is for the kids to see where it came from and have a degree of respect for it. I don't feel rap has been respected as an art form. Because people have seen rappers rap off the top of their heads, they don't think it is difficult," he explained.
Ice - who had a hugely successful solo career before switching to acting in the late 80s - also wanted to give exposure to some of the forefathers of the rap genre.

Justin Bieber’s Personal Album

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Upcoming Releases, Hip-Hop & Rap, Pop,
Justin Bieber wanted his second album to be as personal as possible.
The 18-year-old singer has just released his second LP Believe and says when he was writing it he wanted to focus on all the good and bad things that have happened to him, including Mariah Yeater claiming he had fathered her child: "I'm always inspired by different things that I've gone through. Over the past couple of years, there are things I want to talk about - even with Mariah claiming that she had my baby. I wanted to be able to talk about that with my album."
Justin also revealed how he finds it easier to write songs after dark as he feels he is much more focused after dark. "The nighttime is usually the best time for creativity, because my mind wanders, and I'm able to focus more."
While he was inspired by the allegations, Justin recently admitted Mariah's paternity suit last year almost made him quit the music business: "At the beginning of it all I was in Florida, away from my friends and family and I was pretty sad. I got to the point where I thought, 'I don't want to do this. I just want to be normal'. It was difficult because I'd never gone through anything like that."

Lil Wayne Didn’t Rush His New Album

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Upcoming Releases, Hip-Hop & Rap,
Lil Wayne's I am Not a Human Being II "isn't rushed."
The "Drop the World" rapper recently completed the second in his series, and admits its predecessor - released in 2010 - was rushed as he was jailed for possession of a weapon.
"I Am Not A Human Being II, that's what I'm workin' on right now, actually I'm finished. The difference between this album and the last I Am Not a Human Being would be the music wasn't rushed. Last time the music was rushed because I had to take that eight-month vacation on that island so we had rushed the music, but this time we didn't rush the music."
Wayne spent eighth months in Rikers Island prison in New York over the weapons charge, during which time I am Not a Human Being was released. Wayne has previously said he wrote an album of love songs during his time inside, although he warned, "It's my version of love songs. And what I mean by 'my version of love songs' is that they're not saying, 'I love you.' They're saying...you know."
I am Not a Human Being II will be preceded by a single, "My Homies Still," but has no set release date at present.

Rihanna is recording new material in London.
The "You Da One" singer has booked studio time with top up-and-coming UK music producers Burns and Nicky Romero ahead of her performance at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend in London on Sunday. "Rihanna is working with Marina and the Diamonds' boyfriend Burns, a Brighton-based producer who is good mates with Calvin Harris. They've booked three days in the studio, which they'll fit around him doing some work with Kelis. Rihanna's also working with Nicky Romero, another DJ and pal of Calvin," a source said.
Rihanna previously worked with Calvin on her track "We Found Love," from last year's Talk That Talk album.
The 24-year-old has high an extremely high work rate, releasing six albums since 2005. However, the Barbados-born star had delayed her studio sessions as she was reluctant to leave her family in New York, as her grandmother is battling cancer in hospital. "I'm in LONDON bitchesssss. 50 Cent Sets Release Date For Fifth Album

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Release Dates, Upcoming Releases, Hip-Hop & Rap,
50 Cent has finally set a release date for his fifth album.
The "Candy Shop" star will release the long delayed Five (Murder By Numbers) on July 3.
The rapper said part of the reason for the long delay - almost three years since his last album Before I Self Destruct - is because he has taken time to perfect each track: "I said I was gonna put a record out that was completely up to album standard, and I'm gonna do that. I worked on this album for a long time. It's been three years."
50 - real name Curtis Jackson - added his turbulent relationship with Interscope records has been part of delays to the record, which was originally to be titled Black Magic. 50 threatened to leak the entire album in full in January, and shortly afterward one song "Girls Go Wild," appeared on the internet, but 50 has since made up with his record company.
