Trent Reznor to Write New Nine Inch Nails Songs
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Collaborations, Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Rumors, Electronic, Rock, Soundtracks,
Trent Reznor is planning to spend next year writing material for Nine Inch Nails. The musician retired the band from live performance in 2009 so he could concentrate on other projects, but has said he plans to spend 2012 writing material with the project "in mind."
When asked if he plans to work on Nine Inch Nails soon, Trent told BBC Radio 1, "For sure. I plan on spending a good portion of this year coming up writing with that in mind. Let's see what happens."
Since putting the project - of which he is the sole permanent member - on hold, Trent has started a new band, How to Destroy Angels, and worked on the Oscar winning soundtrack to The Social Network with Atticus Ross. Trent and Atticus have also teamed for another soundtrack, to the US remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which he said was the sort of film he was more comfortable working on.
"I started thinking, 'Finally! Now there's serial killers, tension, anal rapings and stuff like that!" he joked. "But there was an experimentation with familiar - almost orchestral-sounding things but treated in an unusual way. This isn't a soundtrack that's filled with Star Wars-esque theme songs."

Interview: Hadouken!
Posted by Drea Avellan Categories: Editorials, Alternative, Dance, Electronic, iTunes,
Hadouken, a special move belonging to Capcom’s influential game Street Fighter, can now also be associated to a band just as influential.
Hadouken! has been making waves with their grime, techno, new rave music in the UK and around the world. But putting this band in a genre is just criminal. Hadouken! will hit you in the face and finish you off with an uppercut with their high energy beats that will move the body of even the stiffest of men – even dead ones.
If you have not yet heard of Hadouken!, you soon will. EA (Electronic Arts) /Artwerk has picked up this band to enrich our EA gaming experiences with sounds that can only be called one thing – awesome.
If I haven’t interested you yet into checking this band out, you are just crazy. I highly recommended giving this band a spin. For the Masses, Hadouken!’s album, can be found on iTunes, and can be downloaded here. YOU GO NOW!
Now that you’ve downloaded the album and loved it, it’s time to get up close and personal. I had the opportunity to chat with guitarist Dan Rice about the band, videogames, and all things music.

Singer Commits Suicide at Belgian Music Festival
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Music Videos, Electronic, Pop,
For the second time in less than a week, a tragic suicide has overshadowed a musical event.
On Thursday night, a concertgoer fell onto the stage during a Swell Season concert in California. One day later, it was a band’s lead singer who jumped to his death.
Charles Haddon, the frontman for Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, was pronounced dead Friday night after a performance with his British group in Hasselt, Belgium. The 22-year-old, who had climbed a telecommunications mast, jumped and fell onto the backstage parking lot at the Pukkelpop festival.

M.I.A. Taking a Total Departure
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Upcoming Releases, Dance, Electronic,
M.I.A.‘s new album will be “a total departure” from her established sound.
Producer Diplo, who collaborated with M.I.A. (real name Maya Arulpragasam) on her breakthrough single “Paper Planes,” promises he has drawn from a well of diverse musical influences to create tracks for the Sri Lankan born singer’s third album. “On the new record I’ve just done for her - which might be the single - I sampled a bunch of gospel-y, old-school, Alabama, weird, Sacred Harp singers,” he said.
“It’s turning into an Animal Collective kind of record, which represents a total departure from what you would expect from her, but that’s where her head was at. She just had a baby so she was on this elated mood. With her it’s always sort of random, whatever you think was not going to be productive - that recording ended up being a really s****y demo and then it turned into a big song.”

In her new track “Not Myself Tonight,” Christina Aguilera claims “I’m out of character/ I’m in rare form/ And if you really knew me/ you’d know its not the norm.”
Although no one would ever accuse the “Candyman” singer of ever being predictable, Aguilera aimed for a new sound while creating her upcoming album. “I was able to explore and create a fresh, sexy feel using both electronic and organic elements with subject matter ranging from playful to introspective. I am so excited for my fans to hear the new sound. It is something I don’t think anyone will expect,” she told MTV.
If you like what you hear here, you can buy the song when it officially drops on April 13. Otherwise, you can wait to purchase the entire album - Bionic - on June 8.

Will Adam Lambert Front Queen?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Rumors, Dance, Electronic, Pop, Rock,
Gene Simmons might not see Adam Lambert as a rocker, but his opinion isn’t shared by all. The members of Queen were so impressed with the American Idol finalist, they’ve even expressed interest in working with Lambert again. Maybe even on a permanent basis.
When asked about the frontman rumors, guitarist Brian May denied any job offers were made after last week’s season ender. But that doesn’t mean America hasn’t already seen the new Freddie Mercury. “Amongst all that furor, there wasn’t really a quiet moment to talk. But [drummer Roger Taylor] and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with him at some point,” May revealed to Rolling Stone. “It’s not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn’t that easy. But I’d certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.”
