One of Michael Jackson‘s gloves has sold for $49,000.
The famous jewel-encrusted accessory, which the late pop icon wore during his 1996 wedding to Debbie Rowe, was bought by Las Vegas Hard Rock curator Warwick Stone at an auction in Australia.
“Michael Jackson gave it to someone in public in Australia and most collectors of Michael Jackson memorabilia knew about this glove,” Warwick said. “I’ve got the chain that used to hang around Sid Vicious’ neck, I’ve got one of Elvis’ .357 magnums which he used to shoot TVs with.”
The right-hand glove was the first of Michael’s gloves to go on sale since his June 25 death, although three more are due to go under the hammer in America this year.

Although they found the strength to perform over the weekend, Blink-182 has decided to cancel an appearance Monday night in New York. The group made the decision based on the “circumstances surrounding the unfortunate and untimely passing” of their friend DJ AM.
On Saturday, drummer Travis Barker - who survived a deadly plane crash last September with Adam Goldstein - and the rest of his band members paid tribute to the disc jockey at a concert in Hartford, Connecticut. An emotional Mark Hoppus told the attendees that they had “lost a really dear friend” right before leading them into a moment of silence.
“We thank all of our fans for their support in this tough time,” the group said in a statement about this evening’s gig. Other acts still on the schedule include Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Chester French.

If it feels like 2009 is a rehash of 2008, there might be reason. First, Russell Brand is asked to host the VMAs for the second time. Now, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are being given return gigs.
Last year’s Male and Female Vocalists of the Year will once again front the CMAs during the broadcast this fall. Combined, the two country stars have already racked up a total of 16 award from “Country Music’s Biggest Night.”
“I am thrilled to get the chance to co-host the CMAs for a second time with my pal, Carrie,” Paisley said. “This year we’ll pull out all the stops, like a miniature poodle balancing act, tightrope walking, and a new world record for the number of costume changes by my co-host. Don’t miss it!”
The 43rd Annual CMA Awards will air live November 11 on ABC.
