VIDEO: Madonna’s Tribute to the King of Pop
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Videos, Pop,
As we mentioned earlier, Madonna was preparing to include a Michael Jackson tribute during her Sticky & Sweet tour. Last night’s concert was held at London’s O2 arena, the same location Michael was scheduled to appear in.
In the cllp above, the singer celebrates the King of Pop with help from a look-alike performer. “Kento, my dancer, was obsessed with Michael all his life. And when Michael was having auditions for his tour, Kento really wanted to go but he’d already made a commitment to me. So now he’s about to have his moment and be Michael at my show,” Madonna said in a pre-show interview.
“I am so terribly sad about Michael Jackson’s death. I don’t know what artist wasn’t inspired by him,” she added.
Jackson’s would have celebrated his next birthday August 29. The Material Girl is only 13 days older than him.

Interview with Brooklyn’s funky duo, Matt & Kim
Posted by Drea Avellan Categories: Editorials, Dance,
Music has always been a form of self-expression. Most artists enjoy creating music and sharing it with the world anyways they can – through shows, CDs, blogs, MP3s, Myspace, Twitter and any other new media the Internet spits out. As an extension to all the ways we can enjoy their music, Matt & Kim, can also be found on various video games published by EA. If you have heard of this Brooklyn-based dance/punk/electric/make you feel good music band – you know why they are a great fit to the EA TRAX catalog.
Matt & Kim broke into the ever so experimental New York music scene in 2006 with their first self-titled EP. Since then, they have been making everyone dance with non-stop tours all around the United States and Canada. The release of their full-length album, Grand, has brought Matt & Kim some mainstream exposure via commercials and now – video games.
We talked it up with Matt while on his way to a show in Florida. We talked about the band, games, the music scene and how they party—Isn’t that what it’s all about, anyways?

Was Adam Lambert Ineligible for American Idol?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Artist News, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
Hi Fi records is planning to release an album full of Adam Lambert’s songs that were recorded before he was ever on reality TV…but, there are several problems with the whole thing. It all started when Hi Fi made their intentions known. Lambert then responded, via the press, that these are not actually his songs but mere studio recordings which no longer reflect where he is musically - he contents they were meant to be demos for other singers.
The record company responded with a memo that suggests Lambert had a hand in writing most of the songs. Lambert promptly changed his tune (pun intended) at this point, saying the demos were indeed his…but, he doesn’t want them to be released.

Is Jackson Family Considering Concert Tour?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Concerts / Tours, Rumors, Pop,
Even though refunds are now being offered for Michael Jackson’s tour, there had been rumors that his siblings could pick up some of the pieces.
Just yesterday, it was reported that the Jackson clan - including sister Janet - was considering doing a tribute tour in their brother’s honor. This supposedly could have meant performances on some of Michael’s old London dates. It also might have meant stops in the United States. It’s not clear now how the upcoming refunds would affect a gathering, if at all.
The family would have reportedly performed songs done by or with the King of Pop.

Refunds Being Offered for Michael Jackson Tickets
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours,
NOTE: Refunds are only being offered to those who “purchased tickets through authorized agents.”
Later this week, refunds for Michael Jackson’s planned concerts will be offered in full.
Although many will still have to eat the cost of the flights they purchased, they will at least get back the service fees they were charged along with the ticket price.
Those wanting to remember the King of Pop could opt for a piece of memorabilia instead. Up until August 14, fans can choose to receive a commemorative concert ticket in lieu of a refund. The souvenirs, printed with the lenticular process, were designed by the artist himself.
Both options will become available starting on July 1. More information will be offered at MichaelJacksonLive.com.
