Snoop Dogg Appears on Willie Nelson Album

Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg appears on Willie Nelson's new album, Heroes. The rapper teamed with the country singer for the track "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die," which also features Kris Kristofferson and Jamey Johnson.

Although the pairing may seem unlikely, it is not the first time they have worked together, with Willie guesting on the track "Superman" from Snoop's last album Doggumentary. "I fell in love with his music as a kid. Willie's got long hair with braids, he likes to do the herbal essence. So it was natural for me and him to come together," Snoop said, speaking of how their collaboration came about.

The musicians bond over their shared enthusiasm for smoking marijuana, and Snoop spoke out in Willie's defense after he was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession in Texas in November 2010. Willie said he considered naming the album Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die, but decided against because it would prove controversial: "We were going to name the album that title, but we decided there might be a couple more conservative outlets out there that wouldn't appreciate it."

Heroes also sees guest appearances from Merle Haggard, Lukas Nelson and Sheryl Crow, as well as a cover of Coldplay's "The Scientist". The album is scheduled for release on May 14.
