Scott Weiland Adamant That He Is Still in Stone Temple Pilots
Scott Weiland claims Stone Temple Pilots lied about firing him to boost ticket sales.
The "Sour Girl" band released a statement earlier this week, saying Scott had been sacked, although he counters the band had already organized a tour without him, and saw it as a way of promoting their shows.
"STP is not broken up. It's a whole thing to try to boost ticket sales," he told TMZ.
He added the band do not communicate very much, and said the rest of the group could never tour as Stone Temple Pilots without him, due to a clause in their contract. Scott also maintained the band is still intact and together. On Wednesday, the band released a one line statement, reading, "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland."
Scott said at the time he was as surprised as anybody by the news and had not been made aware of the decision by the rest of the band: Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz. "I learned of my supposed 'termination' from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted, and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out," he said at the time.
