Green Day Slams Bon Jovi
Billie Joe Armstrong has branded Bon Jovi the "worst" ever band to play with.
The Green Day frontman is unimpressed with the rock icons' talent and says the "Livin' On A Prayer" hitmakers are the worst group he has ever performed alongside. Speaking about his all-time favorite band to have shared the stage with, Billie Joe told Kerrang! magazine, "The best is probably The Hives ... They're a great live band." But when asked about his least favorite, the 40-year-old rocker revealed, "Oh boy, I have to go with Bon Jovi."
The "American Idiot" singer also confessed the strangest thing about Green Day's successful career is all the false rumors about him, but luckily he is amused by most of them. "I heard that I was dead! That's pretty hard to beat, rumor-wise. I was in Los Angeles recording 'American Idiot,' and I got a call from my wife freaking out. It was just internet stuff gone wild," he laughed.
The punk rocker is known for his heavy eyeliner, a look he admitted is influenced by punk legend Mike Ness, but he joked that the band have been known to use eye make-up as a "good pick-up line with girls" during gigs: "The first time I ever wore eyeliner was 1990. I thought I looked cool, like Mike Ness from Social Distortion. When you were at shows you could ask them, 'Do you have any eyeliner?' They'd be like, 'Yeah.' 'Well can you put it on me?' And they were like, 'Yeah, sure!'"
Green Day performed at the MTV Video Music Awards last week, not long after Billie was hospitalized for an undisclosed illness.
