Although we’ve already seen Gwyneth Paltrow in the trailer for Country Strong, this is the first time we’ve her perform the title song out of character.

In the film to be released on later this year, the Oscar winner plays Kelly Canter, a troubled musician who tries to get her career back (a la Crazy Heart). Real-life country singer Tim McGraw, who plays Paltrow’s husband in the film, also duets with Paltrow—on a tune written by Paltrow’s real-life husband.

“‘Me and Tennessee’ is a special song that perfectly fits the movie,” Gwyneth told MTV about the Chris Martin-penned track. “It’s about a couple who are maybe irreparably damaged. But then the chorus is, ‘Then that old song comes on, together we’re singing, forever we’re singing, that old country song.’ So it’s about country music bringing people back together when they’re having a difficult time in life.”

Country Strong hits theaters on December 22.
