Kanye West Cancels Today Show Concert

Although he's made some peace with former President George W. Bush, Kanye West now has a new target for his frustration: the Today show.

During a pre-taped interview that aired Thursday, Kanye became bothered by some video that was rolling during his chat. As Matt Lauer and West were comparing the backlash he received after the MTV Awards to the flak Bush received post-Hurricane Katrina, NBC chose to show the clip of that famous Kanye/Taylor Swift moment.

That decision caught Kanye by surprise -- and he made sure everyone knew he didn't like it. (Cue the video to the 6:30 mark.)

After telling the Today staff that the rolled tape was "ridiculous," Kanye -- who was still set to perform on NBC on November 26 -- then turned to his Twitter account. "Yo I really wonder if Matt Lauer thought that s*** was cool to play the MTV clip while I was speaking about Bush?" he wrote. That message was followed up early Friday morning by a new post:

"I'm not performing on the Today Show for obvious reasons. I'm so happy the world got to see just a small piece of 'the set up,'" he wrote, adding, "And I don't hate Matt Lauer... We don't promote hate. That's the whole point!!! I promote love and truth! ... All positive energy ... all smiles. Much love to Matt and the whole Today Show. I accept ya'll future apology in advance LOL!"

It's unclear if Today will now find a replacement performer for that post-Thanksgiving concert. In the meantime, the program "maintains he was treated no differently than any other guest."
