Christina AguileraChristina Aguilera's bullies have inspired her biggest hits.

The "Your Body" singer - who has regularly been criticized for her curvier figure recently - admitted she is impacted by the negativity but channels her feelings into her music. In an emotional interview with Dateline NBC, the 31-year-old star said, "I have definitely experienced forms of bullying, and that's why it's so important for me to write songs like 'Beautiful' and 'Fighter.' On this current record, Lotus is all about being an unbreakable flower that survives the test of time. Throughout the roughest of surroundings and harshest weather conditions it remains strong and thrives."

The provocative singer also opened up about her relationship with her four-year-old son Max and insisted she is doing everything she can to give him a better childhood than her own. Christina became visibly emotional when asked about her bond with Max during the interview and her desire to have him grow up feeling safe and secure. "He is my heart he is my world, he's just my baby. I am definitely accomplishing that goal thus far. No matter what, I know he is in an environment that makes him very safe," the 31 year-old Voice mentor said.

Christina previously revealed she witnessed a lot of "unpleasant things" while growing up and has often spoken of the domestic abuse her mother suffered at the hands of her father: "Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from."
