VIDEO: Cancer Diagnosis Ends Beastie Boys Tour

In a video message posted on his group’s website, Adam “MCA” Yauch regretfully announced the end of the ’ summer tour. The cancellation and a delay of their next album are results of a recent cancer diagnosis.

It was determined approximately two weeks ago that Yauch was suffering from more than just swollen glands. He will now receive surgery and radiation for cancer found in his left parotid gland and a lymph node in that area.

The good news? The cancer - localized to that area of his body - is believed to be completely treatable. Yauch’s voice will also not be affected. Those who will be affected are scheduled attendees at a number of upcoming gigs including Lollapalooza, All Points West, Outside Lands and Austin City Limits.

“I apologize to everybody, for anyone who’s made plans or was psyched to come to these shows that are coming up,” Yauch said. “We’ll be back doing this soon.”

The group’s next album, Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, was scheduled for a Sept. 15 debut.
