Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Disappointed with Steven Tyler’s Setbacks

Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Steven Tyler

Every time I hear someone attempt “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” on American Idol, I think to myself: “I wonder what happened to Steven Tyler?” Apparently I’m not the only one asking that question these days.

Over the past year and a half, the Aerosmith lead singer has suffered a number of physical setbacks including sore feet (seriously) and a broken shoulder. (The latter problem forced a cancellation of the band’s summer tour.)

But if you’d like to know how Tyler is doing now, you shouldn’t ask Joe Perry. The guitarist hasn’t exchanged words with Steven for some time now.

“I haven’t talked to him in over five weeks. I don’t know what’s going on with him. I hear he’s getting better, but I don’t know I really don’t know what’s going on with him,” Perry revealed to the Associated Press.

It appears Joe’s current frustration is a result of several disappointing events. “I was pretty (upset), because right before that, he had pulled a muscle in his leg. And we had to take two weeks off and we missed probably seven dates,” he said.

And though Perry believes “there’s still life left in the old band,” he admits there’s a lot of work to be done. “All I know is [Steven’s] got to get his act together. I mean, he and I haven’t written a song together alone in the same room in over ten years, so there’s been some changes in paradigm of what Aerosmith is,” he said.
