Plans for the sequel to GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra are underway, and at least one cast member isn’t too happy about it. Rachel Nichols, who played Scarlett in the first film, just broke the news via Twitter: only three cast members from the first flick are returning.
She isn’t one of them (sorry, Rachel Nichols fans). Channing Tatum will reprise his role as Duke, Ray Park will come back as Snake Eyes and Lee Byung-hun is set to play Storm Shadow.
If Nichols is correct, Jon Chu is directing a sequel that will leave Scarlett, Ripcord (Marlon Wayans), Sergeant Stone (Brendan Fraser), General Hawk (Dennis Quaid) and Cobra Commander (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) completely out of the franchise.

Storybooks and Kristen Stewart are a perfect match. The dark-haired beauty is filming her last Twilight film even as we pine away for the release of Breaking Dawn, Part I, but the end of Bella is just the beginning for K-Stew. The actress has signed on to play Snow White, another raven-locked storybook heroine.
Stewart will play one of the titular roles in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, one of two Snow White movies currently in the works.
Producer Palak Patel is hoping to set a new tone for the old fairy tale with the casting decision. She explained it all on Twitter: “Clearly, [Kristen Stewart] isn’t right for the upbeat, song-happy Disney version of the character, but this movie is going to be dark and gritty.”
Then, it sounds like K-Stew really is the perfect choice. Stay up-to-date on this and other movie news when you follow FilmCrunch on Twitter.

Fairy tales are in again. Red Riding Hood is poised to make a killing at the box office, two Snow White adaptations are on the way and now, Peter Man is looking for a Hollywood home.
According to rumor, actor Channing Tatum and writer Billy Ray (Shattered Glass, Breach) are shopping around a new take on the old Peter Pan story, something of an origin story for the title character. The project is called Pan. It’s almost certain that one of the studios will snap this project up, particularly if Red Riding Hood draws a big audience when it opens March 11.

During her career in Hollywood, Jane Russell kept company with the likes of Marilyn Monroe, eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes and a host of other legendary personalities. She was best-known for her impressive, Amazonian figure -- which she always put to good use on the big screen. And now, she’s gone.
Jane Russell died on Monday in Santa Maria at the age of 89, 70 years after she was cast in her first Howard Hughes movie (The Outlaw). Her cleavage, amply displayed throughout the flick, created a huge controversy with censors. She did westerns with the Howard Hughes-owned RKO studios for several years in the 1940s before being cast as Marilyn Monroe’s brunette bestie in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The role gave Russell the chance to show off another of her assets -- her powerful singing voice. You can hear -- and see -- her talents on display in the video above, a clip of Russell's big solo from the movie.
Throughout the 1950s, she continued to star in films. Russell was paired onscreen with Clark Gable, Robert Mitchum and Frank Sinatra -- to name just a few. Russell spent the next years singing in nightclubs, making the occasional movie appearance until 1970.

According to rumors, James Franco is in talks to star in Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful, a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Robert Downey, Jr. was originally in talks to star in the new Sam Raimi flick, but we think Franco would be a great fit, too.
The movie focuses on a circus wrangler who gets caught up in a tornado that transports him to the magical land of Oz, where the citizens mistake him for a powerful wizard.

In this picture, Christie Burke looks like she could definitely be the half-vampire daughter of Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). . .but, did she manage to sell that to the casting directors? Rumor has it that she’s nailed the part of grown-up Renesmee Cullen, daughter of Bella and Edward -- and, she definitely looks the part.
It’s been reported that cuter-than-cute Mackenzie Foy will play the younger version of Renesmee in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part I.

Bobby and Peter Farrelly, ready to direct? Check. A funny script that pays homage to the movie’s theme, The Three Stooges? Check. A shooting location? Check. The only thing the new movie doesn’t have is a cast -- which is something of a problem, since filming is scheduled to begin at the end of April.
Yikes. “We just haven’t made a choice,” explained Peter Farrelly, one-half of the filmmaking brother duo. “But, we will in the coming weeks.” Let’s hope so.
The Three Stooges film is a much-anticipated project that once had some of the biggest of big names attached to it. Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro and Jim Carrey were going to become Larry, Moe and Curly (in that order), but both Penn and Carrey ditched the project early on.
