The big-budget action movie, Sucker Punch, cost a cool $80 million to make -- and everyone involved was hoping the flick would make a big box office splash. The gun-heavy, intense action movie looked like a shoo-in for the top box office slot, but nerd power ruled the weekend instead. Gun-toting babes, it seems, are worth less than $20 million to moviegoers. Diary of a Wimpy Kid overshadowed the girl-powered fighting flick, earning $24.4 million to take first place at the box office.
Sucker Punch had a dismal opening weekend, raking in a disappointing $19 million to score second place. Limitless is still going strong, though it’s fallen to number three, earning $15.2 million. Lincoln Lawyer ($11 million) and Rango ($9.8 million) finish off the top five earners of the weekend.

Amy Adams is going to make a super-cute Lois Lane in the Superman reboot, even if she has to dye her trademark red locks. Director Zack Snyder says the actress is “perfect” for the role (the Golden Globe nomination sure didn't hurt her in the audition room). He picked Adams after a lengthy search, because every superhero needs a leading lady.
Adams will be playing the career-minded love interest to Clark Kent/Superman Henry Cavill. Supporting cast includes Kevin Costner, who will play dad Jonathan Kent and Diana Lane as mom Martha Kent.

HBO has picked Ed Harris to play Senator John McCain in Game Change, an adaptation of the novel. The movie shows an insider’s point of view of the historic 2008 Presidential election.
Which means, yes, Sarah Palin will also be portrayed in the flick. The movie follows both campaigns, McCain’s and Obama’s. Jay Roach will return to HBO to direct the flick. He won an Emmy for HBO's Recount, the 2008 account of the 2000 Presidential election.
Harris is only 60, making him a bit young to play the elderly McCain, but the four-time Oscar nominee is sure to bring a lot to the role. As we reported, Julianne Moore will play opposite him as former Governor Sarah Palin.

Seven books, eight movies, ten years -- and it all came down to this. In the video above, you’ll see the last scene ever filmed for the epic Harry Potter film franchise, a bittersweet ending to a tale that’s still in the making on the big screen.
Fittingly, the last scene featured title star Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and his co-stars Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron). The scene was part of their escape from The Ministry of Magic, which we already saw in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I.

Jake Mandeville-Anthony, U.K. screenwriter, has just filed an injunction to stop the June 24 release of the highly-anticipated Disney/Pixar sequel, Cars 2. His claim? The uber-company ripped off his script -- Cars was his idea in the first place.
Mandeville-Anthony says he originally submitted a script in the 90s, a three-part screenplay named “Cookie & Co.” and another piece titled “Cars.” His “Cars” contained a sample screenplay, animated car character descriptions, character sketches… even a marketing and merchandising plan. The writer alleges that he submitted his work to Disney and met with Lucasfilm exec Jim Morris in 1993. Morris would go on to join Pixar in 2005. He is now the company’s general manager.

Who is Hollywood’s new $19 million man? Bradley Cooper. The Limitless star proved to be exactly that at the box office this weekend, scoring the top money-making slot with fans.
But Johnny Depp also easily proved his worth -- he didn’t even have to appear on screen to rake in $15.3 million with the animated Rango. Battle: Los Angeles, opening to horrible reviews, managed a modest $14.6 million to earn the number three position.
Matthew McConaughey’s The Lincoln Lawyer barely earned fourth place with $13.4, only narrowly edging out fifth-ranked Paul’s $13.1 million.

The two villains mostly mentioned were The Riddler, an iconic character in Batman's rogue gallery, and Deadshot. However, according to Variety, Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone also known as The Holiday Killer, the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, a role played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins.
