The Hangover 2: In Review
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Warner Bros, Sequels, Comedy, New Releases, Theatrical Reviews,
If you liked The Hangover, does that automatically mean you should like The Hangover, Part II? Well, yeah… unless you expect too much from it. If you want to watch a very funny movie with plenty of call backs to its parent flick (you know, the reason it exists), and you’re excited about seeing lovable characters a second time around, you’ll absolutely enjoy The Hangover, Part II. If you’re expecting breakthrough comedy, deep meaning, something brand-new and never-before-seen, you might be disappointed… but why would you be expecting that?
Die-hard fans of the original probably aren’t, but the critics have been rabid in their dislike for the lighthearted sequel. It’s an almost-summer, holiday weekend ensemble comedy, and most movie reviewers are screaming for blood in their respective columns. Why? Because the movie isn’t original enough.

Box Office: Hangover Buzz Doesn’t Slow Ticket Sales
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Disney, Paramount, Universal, Warner Bros, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Animation, Sequels, Comedy, Box Office, New Releases,
Critics have widely panned The Hangover, Part II, but that didn’t deter holiday weekend moviegoers. The comedy sequel earned massive bucks for Warner Bros., and surpassed box office earnings for its parent flick.
So who cares what critics say, anyway? The ensemble comedy earned $137.4, after enjoying the biggest-ever Thursday opening for a film ($31.6 million).
Kung Fu Panda 2 fell far short of the first-place mark, earning $62.2 million during the three-day weekend. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides racked up $50.4 million in third place. Bridesmaids earned $21 million, and Thor finishes off the top five with $12 million. Maybe some bad reviews would boost their box office mojo?

Snow White and the Box Office Battle
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Universal, Adaptation, Family, Remakes, Filmmaking, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
It’s the kind of thing that happens when rights licensing gets out of hand. As we’ve explained, two different Snow White films will make their way to the big screen in 2012. Each flick is peppered with big names and some fresh faces, and each will present an original take on the age-old fairy tale.
But, there’s trouble, because each film wants to be the first one to come to theaters. Relativity Media’s Snow White was scheduled to release on June 29, so Universal’s Snow White and Huntsman moved its production schedule up 6 months to set a new release for June 1.
Relativity retaliated by moving its fairy tale flick up to March 16. And in the rush to get each movie to the box office, someone’s bound to foul up somewhere.

The Hangover, Part II: Stopped by a Tattoo?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Warner Bros, Sequels, Comedy, Upcoming Releases,
The Hangover, Part II is set to open in theaters this weekend… or, is it? One thing may still delay the opening -- Mike Tyson’s facial tattoo.
More specifically, the fact that Ed Helms is wearing it in the flick (or, something that looks a lot like it). The tattoo artist who originally put the ink on Tyson’s face is suing Warner Bros. for copyright violation. S. Victor Whitmill, the artist behind the suit, is also asking for an injuction which would block the film’s May 26 release.

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Warner Bros, Comedy, Casting, Upcoming Releases,
Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, also known as The Other Guys, are reuniting on the big screen. The duo will re-team for Turkey Bowl, a Warner Bros. comedy about football… and the fans who love it.
Ferrell and Wahlberg play die-hard fans from football-centric towns who lead rival teams in a tackle football game. Alec Baldwin will play Wahlberg’s father.
They had us at Will Ferrell, but the other stuff sounds pretty good, too.

Kristen Stewart Finds Her Prince Charmant
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Universal, Adaptation, Remakes, Romance, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
Kristen Stewart has a prince… and it’s not Robert Pattinson. Stewart, who will be playing one of the title roles on Snow White and the Huntsman (guess which), will be paired onscreen with Sam Claflin.
He recently came to attention in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Claflin will play Prince Charmant, Stewart’s love interest in the re-telling of the fairy tale. Charlize Theron will play the Evil Queen, and so far no Huntsman has been cast.
