Robert Pattinson only had abs for "two weeks" during filming of The Twilight Saga. The British actor admits it was tough for him to be excessively working out while playing the role of vampire Edward Cullen in the movie, and while he tried very hard to buff up like his co-star Taylor Lautner, he lapsed back into old habits after a short space of time.
"Taylor just ruined the whole series for me. As soon as he buffed up, I went, 'Well I'm throwing in the towel on New Moon. I didn't eat candy and I didn't drink any beer for a while. I went kind of nuts. Me and Kristen went nuts working out, because we hadn't worked out for any of [the previous films] I had the abs for, like, two weeks. As soon as I didn't have to be shirtless anymore, [my good habits were] gone immediately."
In the end, the hunky star admits he gave up entirely, and ate endlessly on the shoot for the last movie Breaking Dawn. "During filming in Brazil, the day before I had to do my shirtless scene, I realized my abs weren't as good as Taylor's, so I just ate every bit of chocolate in the mini-bar. I started eating cheeseburgers and stuff."

Watch out, Oscar! Ricky Gervais has offered to host the Academy Awards.
The controversial comedian - who upset Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie when he hosted the Golden Globes earlier this year - has revealed he would be happy to present the Oscars following the departure of Eddie Murphy as the host.
"I'll do it. I'll do that as well. I'll be in town any way for the Globes. I can knock off 20 per cent. A two for one deal! I'll just stay up there."
The British star, however, admits he is not yet been offered the opportunity to present the Golden Globes for the third time on January 15, 2012: "They haven't asked me officially yet, and I don't know whether I'd say yes. It's very tempting. It's tempting because for three hours, I'm the most feared man in Los Angeles, so that's nice. I think NBC wants me to do it, but the Hollywood Foreign Press have got to want me as well. It's their event, it's their party."

Even though its predecessor received mixed reviews, Paranormal Activity 3 still managed to come out on top this past weekend, bumping last week's robot-packed action film Real Steel down to the #2 spot.
The sequel prequel horror film took in $54 million for its first week, which established the new record for largest Fall opening (September and October). Real Steel came in second at $11.3 million while the Footloose remake raked in $10.8 million, down one spot from its debut. Summit's The Three Musketeers pulled in $8.8 in its first week as George Clooney's film The Ides of March rounded out the top five at $4.9 million.

Quote of the Day: Tilda Swinton on Acting

"I'm not really interested in acting. I've given up waiting for an epiphany of interest to strike. Acting is a red herring and a major mistake and I'm still trying to get back on track. Every time I'm in a film I'm determined it's the last I'm in then I'll fall into a conversation with someone and we'll cook up a new scheme. Basically it's gone on for 20 years but I'm hoping to pull it to a close shortly."

Casey Affleck has signed up to star in Paradise Lost. The 36-year-old actor will star alongside Bradley Cooper and Benjamin Walker in the movie, which tells the tale of the battle between good and evil.
Affleck will play the angel Gabriel in the project, which sees Bradley star as vengeful Lucifer, who raises a hellish army after he is cast out of heaven. Dijmon Hounsou is also set to star as the angel of death Abdiel in the film, which is being directed Alex Proyas. The movie - which is set to come to cinemas in 2013 - is expected to have a particularly unique visual appeal, and will be shot in 3-D.
"I've sometimes thought that only an insane person would want to make this movie, because it's visually audacious and has to live up to a classic poem that is so beloved. I don't think the visuals could have been done justice until now, which is the great fun of being a film director in this modern age of visual effects," Proyas said.
Carey Mulligan Praises Drive Director, Ryan Gosling

Carey Mulligan loves the "brutal" honesty of director Nicolas Winding Refn. The Oscar-nominated actress worked with the filmmaker on new movie Drive, and says it was a dream come true because he's always been someone she's admired.
"I emailed my agent and said, 'I just want to work with someone like Nicolas Winding Refn - anyone who makes films like he does.' Nick is the most brutally honest person I have ever come across and when we walked into his house he turned around and said, 'Ah, Carey, you were much fatter last time we met!' He will always tell me if I'm being rubbish. And from then on we just had the best time making Drive. He was on my fantasy wish list, so I was just thrilled to be in it."
As well as working with Nicolas, Carey loved starring alongside Ryan Gosling in the film as he was so easy to work with: "With Ryan it was just easy. He is such a brilliant actor. He is so prepared and he doesn't have to warm himself up to be in a scene. He just draws you in. We had scenes where we stared at each other with no words for three minutes until it was, like, weird. But somehow I kinda feel like it works because the rest of the film has all these very complex, witty, intelligent and terrifying characters. And this is the part of the film where there is a little bit of hope. It is quite nice."

Miley Cyrus' ex Actor Liam Hemsworth has joined the cast of The Expendables 2. The Hunger Games actor will play a sniper in the forthcoming blockbuster sequel, though no other details of his exact role in the film have yet been revealed.
Liam is the latest in a long line of stars to be confirmed for the cast of the action film, which will be directed by Simon West. Sylvester Stallone heads the movie, reprising his role as team leader Barney Ross, with Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews and Randy Couture also returning. In addition, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, who made cameo appearances in the original 2010 movie, will also return, but with their roles expanded.
Other newcomers to the series include Jean-Claude Van Damme, Nicolas Cage, John Travolta and Chuck Norris. "We'll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one. We've got Chuck Norris. I think Nic Cage. We're trying to work out different scenarios. I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot," Stallone said.
The Expendables 2 is due in cinemas in August 2012.

Christopher Nolan Keeping Close Tabs on Dark Knight Script
![](http://assets.gearlive.com/images/member_photos/photo_1.jpg)

The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan won't give out scripts for the film's final scenes. The filmmaker is determined to keep the ending of his third Batman movie - which stars Christian Bale as the caped crusader - under wraps so he is instead advising his cast on the story verbally in order to minimize the chance of leaks.
"Christopher doesn't want anyone to ruin it and I completely understand that. The newer people on the film go to his office to read the script. They sent mine out, but it had to be hand delivered directly to me and nobody else. And the final few pages were missing. I went along and talked to Christopher and in person about the ending. Then I locked it away in my head," said Gary Oldman, who plays Police Commissioner James Gordon.
Gary is happy with his role in the film and is pleased his career has moved on from the "frenetic" characters of his younger days, such as Drexl from True Romance and Stansfield in Leon. He added, "I was younger then, that's all. In The Dark Knight Rises I'm the 50 year old police commissioner while wonderful, young Heath Ledger is bouncing off the walls as The Joker. Now, had that part come along 15 years ago, people might have said, 'That's a Gary Oldman role.'"
