Who knew Harry Potter’s departure would have such repercussions?
When Entertainment Weekly produced last week’s Fall Movie Preview edition (the one with that bespectacled wizard on the front), I don’t think they anticipated having such outdated information. Unfortunately, Warner Bros.’ decision to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to July 2009 has set off a series of schedule changes.
Variety
Earlier this week, Summit Entertainment moved up the premiere of its highly-anticipated vampire movie, Twilight, to the date recently vacated (Nov. 21). Now, Sony Pictures is looking to reinstate a recent Bond tradition.
Although the past few 007 films have opened around Thanksgiving, Quantum of Solace was originally slated to premiere in early November. But Harry’s exit has given several films ample breathing room, which is why Daniel Craig has now inched even closer to the holiday weekend.
Confused? Here’s a recap of some of the calendar shifts:
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, July 17 (was Nov. 21)
- Twilight, Nov. 21 (was Dec. 12)
- Bolt, Nov. 21 (was Nov. 26)
- Role Models, Nov. 7 (was Nov. 14)
- Quantum of Solace, Nov. 14 (was Nov. 7)
