The weekend is over, the results are in, and is definitely the hen of the walk. The movie raked in $55.7 million this weekend, driving Indiana Jones down to the number-two box office position. But now that all the surprises have been spilled, one question remains: what’s up with that a-character-is-going-to-die rumor?

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t already seen the flick, maybe you don’t want to know, but let me assuage at least one Sex fear: there is no death in the movie. As far as we know, even Miranda’s cat Fatty is still alive and well. Steve’s mom is just fine and living in a home, Magda’s still kicking and yes, all four girls remain well within the realm of the living. So…what’s up with that?

Sex and the City Movie

told reporters that “a character is going to die” in the movie. Here’s the trouble: Nixon was misquoted. In fact, I misquoted her just now. It’s not the fault of the media; this often happens with homonyms. What Cynthia Nixon actually said was “a character is going to dye” emphasis on the y, please. To dye, as in to color one’s hair. Not to die, as in to expire.

In the movie, Sarah Jessica Parker-as-Carrie Bradshaw dyes her hair a very dark brown - this news was leaked weeks ago. The SATC death rumor was no more than a play on words. Misleading, yes. Titillating, definitely. And absolutely, stunningly brilliant. Very clever, SATC insiders. Very clever indeed.

Amazing, but Indiana Jones wasn’t as good as the older movies. Suprised that Iron Man is still on the top list.
