The first Scream 4 trailer debuted at Spike TV’s Scream Awards on Saturday night (the event will air later this week), and we’ve your first look. Watch to see a mix of Scream alum and several new faces in this hair-raising video.

Two returning cast members to the franchise (Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox) have offered up several details about what their characters lives are like when the Screaming starts again. Keep reading to find out how their characters will figure into the plot.

Sidney Prescott (Campbell) is now an author. In the movie, she’s just ending a tour to promote her self-help book. Sidney goes to Woodsboro to visit her cousin (played by Emma Roberts) when trouble starts.

Gale and Dewey (Cox and Arquette) are married and living in Woodsboro, though Gale is growing restless. Gale is suffering with writer’s block and general boredom. When things in the town start heating up again, Gale jumps into the action.

The famous “rules of survival” will again feature in the newest Scream. “I think it has echoes to the first [Scream],” said director Wes Craven. “There’s always somebody trying to figure out what the rules are to keep from getting killed.”
