Rogen and Gondry Find Their Kato

Jay Chou to portray KatoNearly a month after losing Stephen Chow, Green Hornet director Michel Gondry and crew have found someone to fill in the sidekick’s shoes: Asian pop star-turned actor Jay Chou.

And boy does he have shoes to fill out! “It’s an overwhelming experience to take on a role made famous by Bruce Lee. I won’t try to be Bruce Lee’s Kato—I will try to bring my own interpretation to the part,” Chou said.

Even with Chou trying hard to bring his own style to the character, it may not be that difficult considering he’ll receive some help working from a script written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who doesn’t love what these two come up with?), based upon George W. Trendle’s series.

Speaking of co-stars, Rogen and Gondry seem to have no doubt about the decision: “Jay is incredibly unique and charming and fights like a wild dog! When I filmed him next to Seth, they had such great chemistry,” Gondry said.

The film is scheduled for release next summer.
