Remembering Tony Curtis
Tony Curtis, an iconic film star of the 1950s and 60s, was one of Hollywood’s best-looking leading men, but his best-known roles were not the stuff of romantic heroes.
Curtis’s standout performances include the one where he played a woman (Some Like It Hot), the one where he was a dirty, angry escaped convict (The Defiant Ones) and the one where he was a dirty, abused slave (Spartacus).

In his 85 years, Curtis shot to stardom both for his big-screen acting and his gossip-worthy love life. Curtis was married six times total, most notably to silver scream queen Janet Leigh, one of Hollywood’s most beautiful faces. During their 11-year marriage, Curtis and Leigh were a famously A-list couple who enjoyed many big screen successes … not to mention the birth of their two daughters, Kelly Curtis and Jamie Lee Curtis (yes, that one). During his time in Hollywood, he appeared in films with leading ladies like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood.
Curtis died Wednesday of cardiac arrest in his Las Vegas home. A memorial service will be conducted for the film star on Monday morning at 11 am at the Palm Mortuary and Cemetery in Las Vegas.
