Remake News: The Crow, Logan’s Run and More

The Crow: A remake that was announced back in December 2008 is finally starting to take shape. Shooting on The Crow, a new adaptation of the comic book tale, should begin later this year. In the 1994 film version, actor Brandon Lee - who was tragically killed as the result of an accidental shooting on set - played the deceased man who comes back to avenge his fiancee’s death. Director Stephen Norrington’s script will feature new backdrops and a different form for the title character. “The Crow itself is a creature in this movie — it’s not just a bird,” producer Edward Pressman told MTV. “It’s got a personality and a character. Not like Godzilla exactly, but it’s very different [and has] a more active role in the story.”

Logan’s Run: Logan’s Run could have a new future at Warner Bros. A 1976 movie based on the sci-fi novel featured Michael York in the tale about overpopulation and extermination. Carl Rinsch is in discussions to helm the project that currently has no writer.

The Three Musketeers: Orlando Bloom is the latest actor to climb aboard Paul W. S. Anderson’s rendition of The Three Musketeers. Bloom has been tapped to play the Duke of Buckingham, the film’s nemesis. He joins previously cast Christoph Waltz, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evan and Milla Jovovich.

Soapdish: If soap operas can resurrect characters, Hollywood can bring back stories about soap operas. According to a report, Paramount is looking to revive Soapdish, a behind-the-scenes comedy about a television sudser. The 1991 outing starred Robert Downey Jr., Whoopi Goldberg and Sally Field. The updated take will supposedly focus the production behind a telenovela.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Despite rumors that Brad Pitt may join director David Fincher for a reboot of the Swedish film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it’s possible we may just have to settle for Daniel Craig instead. The James Bond actor is reportedly nearing a deal to star as Mikael Blomkvist, a journalist who hires a computer hacker to find a missing woman. Carey Mulligan is one of several actresses whose name has been mentioned for the hacker (Lisbeth Salander) part.
