Paul Thomas Anderson Wants to Make a Film Like ‘Ted’
Talk about a change of pace! Known for his riveting dramas, Paul Thomas Anderson recently revealed that he would like to follow up his Oscar-worthy film The Master with a comedy.
"Soon hopefully. I have to write it. It sounds daunting. I'd like to make a film like Airplane!. That never gets old. Or Ted. It was a big hit. Why? Because it’s great. Movies that are that big a hit are never f****** bad," the writer-director said when asked when he would be filming his comedy.
Although his films have always had some hints of dark comedy in them, I wouldn't be surprised if his partner - Saturday Night Live alum Maya Rudolph - had a little bit to do with his new vision!
Considering the introduction of Joaquin Phoenix's character in The Master and the legendary milkshake scene in There Will Be Blood, I have a feeling that Anderson will transition just fine into a humorous venture.
