UPDATE: It's being reported that Malin Ackerman (Watchmen) has been given the role.
Despite claims that they would wait for their lead actress, the creators behind Inferno will now be recasting their film.
The biopic about adult film star Linda Lovelace was to have starred Lindsay Lohan. The producers felt so strongly about their casting choice, they even delayed production to accommodate her jail/rehab stints. Now, they’ve decided to move on altogether.
"We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan," director Matthew Wilder said. "We are currently in negotiations [with another actress] and working out the legalities of bringing her onboard."

So what made them decide to abandon their original plan? "We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support," Wilder explained. "Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her -- and some other issues -- have made it impossible for us to go forward."
Whatever those “other issues” were, Lohan’s friends say Lindsay chose recovery over the project.
Inferno’s new star will be named on Monday.
