Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Paramount, Action, Adventure, Sequels, Box Office, New Releases,
Memorial Day weekend is for remembering, for bar-be-que, and for gigantic opening movies. Much-touted and highly successful in the past, the Indiana Jones movies are staples of the action-adventure genre. Indiana Jones is even an amusement park attraction.
This Memorial Day weekend proved that Indy is still a huge box office attraction as well. The flick, starring Indy favorite Harrison Ford and franchise newcomer Shia LaBoeuf, racked up an impressive $126 from Friday to Monday. These huge numbers have made Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull the second-biggest opening movie for all Memorial Day weekends past. The number-one box-office record-smashing Memorial record goes to the third installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian raked in $23 million over the weekend, with Iron Man coming in third at $20 million.
