Memphis, the recent Tony Award winner for Best Musical, tells the 1950’s-set story of “a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club singer who is ready for her big break.” The two actors - who are reportedly contending for the lead part of Huey Calhoun - have been spotted attending the show separately.
Although no big screen film has yet been formally announced, director Oliver Stone has been seen in the audience. He’s also had a conversation with one of Memphis’ writers.
If Stone does take on the project, this could mean a big win for the singer. According to sources, Timberlake would be his choice for the role.
