UPDATE: You can find additional reviews from Rolling Stone and The Associated Press here.
Although we still have 3 weeks to go until the premiere of The Dark Knight, Ain’t It Cool News already has an early review of the highly-anticipated sequel.
Here are a few of the highlights from the (spoiler-free) critique:
“The film feels more like a crime drama in a grand city scape than a typical comic book movie.”
“Christian Bale owns this role. He is Bruce Wayne and he is Batman.”
“Heath Ledger’s performance of the Joker is truly one for the books. A man of no remorse or morals who simply wants to see things burn.”

The Dark Knight rolls into theaters on July 18.

Comments:
I think that the review marks the spot. Even though noone has seen the movie yet, I absolutely loved Batman Begins and I cannot wait until this sequel comes out. I hope that the movie is exactly as the review says it is.
I have a feeling that Nolan and crew are definitely not going to let us down. Gah I am so exccciiiiiiiited! :D
Even before Heath’s death when we saw teasers of the film, I could not (and still cannot) BELIEVE how he purely became the Joker. It’s kind of scary… It’s so sad, though. =/ I’m glad that they’ve still left a lot of the Harvey Dent/Two-Face out of the spotlight… Actually, it seems like they’ve been hyping so much about the Joker that they’re waiting to unleash a nice surprise for us? Yes? *Crosses fingers*
fyi - Peter Travers from Rolling Stone has also published his review. I’ve added a link to his 3 1/2 star review in the original article.
Probably one of the most talked and anticipated movies of this summer. The review was very in-depth and well, I’m super excited to see this movie now. Hopefully I’ll be able to get early screening passes or something. 😉
