Did Michael Caine Disclose Inception’s Real Ending?

In a recent interview with BBC Radio, actor Michael Caine (Miles) says he knows the answer to the film’s biggest mystery:
“[The spinning top] drops at the end, that’s when I come back on. If I’m there it’s real, because I’m never in the dream. I’m the guy who invented the dream.”
Question is: Would director/writer Christopher Nolan really tell the actors how the story ended ... or is Caine simply making his own assumptions about the film?
