Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Liam Neeson: The Batman Begins actor has signed on to star with Christina Ricci in a psychological thriller. Kim Cattrall: The Sex and the City vixen will next play someone’s dream woman in Miss January. In the movie, a young man sets out to find a 1980’s film actress who is now a 50-year-old single mother. January will be directed by Keith Bearden, the same man who wrote the screenplay.

Steve Carell: The Get Smart star has just tacked on a historical comedy to his resume. In The Adventures of Brigadier Gerard, Carell will play Gerard, a brave yet dumb soldier in Napoleon’s army. The movie, an adaptation of some Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories, will have Mike Judge on board as one of the executive producers.

Michael Chiklis: Although he’s used to being immersed in a world of drugs, it’s been a while since the Shield star has done anything for laughs. In the upcoming comedy, High School, a valedictorian faces a drug test after getting stoned. The smart teen then plots to get the rest of his classmates high so that they will all fail the test. While Chiklis won’t be the one arresting the bunch, he’ll be playing the school’s principal. Meanwhile, Adrien Brody will be placing his Oscar aside to star as a drug dealer.

Amy Adams: The enchanting actress is currently negotiating to star in another romantic comedy, this time for Spyglass Entertainment. In Leap Year, Adams’ character sets out to propose to her boyfriend in Dublin. (According to tradition, women who propose marriage on February 29 cannot be denied.) Unfortunately, weather problems threaten her travel plans and this, of course, is when the fun begins.

Steve Martin: Back in August, we told you that Meryl Streep would soon be involved in another romantic triangle. Now we know which to two men will be vying for her affections: Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Filming on the Nancy Meyers movie - which is still currently untitled - will begin next February.
